Completely worth the $17 or w/e it was I spent on him.

Edit: I do really appreciate how the extra sword he comes with isn't an exact copy of the first... it's mirrored for symmetry when holding them both. Granted, all you need to do is put the pin in the other direction, but it's a nice touch none-the-less.

If IF, DX9, or Magic Square make a better version, I'll gladly drop $40-$50 on one that kills it in all three modes, but this is certainly better than nothing.

 

Nice little figure and The bonus mini figure is great. Opened him up today and a great addition to the legends line up!

 

After doing Cha Chi's thigh and shoulder mod I added couple of simple mods of my own.

First I trimmed the back kibble directly behind the hips to give the waist more rotation (worked very well).



Then I drilled a small hole in the part right behind Springer's head so that the sword can be stored in robot mod.



Finally, added a reprolabel, cuz we don't want anyone thinking Springer is a nail.



I think that all together these mods make this guy way better. It's kinda fun when you get a good figure and mod it to great  

 

Has anyone found a good stand to display him (and other MFT transformers) in flight mode?

Wondering if there's a way to fudge a dx9 war in Pocket stand to adapt to the MFT line?

 

Does the suit have a driver or is it just dead weight?

 

No driver (but it's a fun little bonus if you're into it. It's not like anyone can tell if there's a pilot while the hatch is closed).

 

For the love of God! Somebody, upsize this great representation of Springer to Combiner Wars deluxe size, please.

 

Do you still have instructions on how to mod Springer? He looks way better in your pics.

I saw that hzj401 has the MS 01u version of Springer available in his Boxed MFT figures thread:

Anybody know what the differences are between this one and their original Spring-o? If the green color is a little darker and he is a tad shorter I would be all over this new release. Honestly, since I never got the original one I may go after this one anyway. I haven't seen any pictures other than the box photo hzj has posted and a quick search for any actual bot pics came up with zilch. Haven't seen any other retailers listing him either. I would love a little more info on this guy...

 

Size is an easy fix for him and doesn't affect the transformation. Someone should have more info

Thanks guys, I did see all the info on cutting down Springer’s legs to shorten him up already. I just try to avoid modding my figs if I can because I’m not especially confident in my skills in that department. I was just wondering if MFT took it upon themselves to mod his height to keep him a little more in scale with their other offerings. I probably should have made that more clear in my previous post. I just didn’t know if this would be a straight up repaint or if other changes would be made.

I did see that one but knew nothing about that site so I didn’t know if that info was reliable or not...
