At least the Mrs wont be able to say \" I\'m not watching that for three hours \"  

 

This makes me more confident that it will have a good coherent story, I mean they could have easily made it longer like all the others but they decided not to, it's not like TLK were they were obliged to cut it down even further.

 

Finally a TF movie with a more sensible running time. Anything over 2 hours is too long for the stories they're trying to tell.

Very much looking forward to something a bit more coherent and not super drawn out.

 

The running time is ok for me since it's over 100 minutes. Actually i think is the budget matter that caused the running time shorter..so we can expected that it will be more compact and won't have any boring moment.

 

This is good news. Movies these days are unbearably long. It always feels like they could use a little extra bit of editing to make it shorter. The Last Knight felt especially long.

I'm hoping that this movie can prove that you can write a good cohesive story and tell all of the interesting bits you need to, include character development, and fit in some well shot action sequences and still finish in under 2 hours. I think this movie will show how talented Knight and his team are at telling a good story that doesn't have all the unnecessary fluff that Bay's films had.

I'm happy.

 

I eat a lot of popcorn in the first half as I'm getting into the movie, and try to avoid drinking in the first half-hour or so, (and just small sips at first). That initial layer of popcorn acts like a sponge. It's a strategy I developed during the days of tedious Peter Jackson epics!

Stay hydrated people.

 

Eh bit short. Cybertron probably just 5 minutes then. And no much character development for others.

 

Because when people think of the longer Bay films they instantly go "Man, there was zero padding, fart jokes, or sex jokes... just tons and tons of character development!"

That's why Hot Rod had such a rich, full backstory in The Last Knight. And Drift's death scene... they sure did spend a ton of time on that! And the Megatron monologues...

 

But I'm not comparing it to those.

 

Usually when I watch a TF movie for the first time I'm totally in another realm so nothing affects me as much I'm just like:man!Wow..this is it! 

 

Sadly I'm very headache-prone, so I have to stay somewhat hydrated to avoid getting a headache.

 

This movie sound more and more like it might actually be not terrible with each announcement. I can't see myself going to see it though.

 

Hopefully the tickets go up now

 

Thank God. An actual human-length movie and not a 2 hour+ headache.

 

Stable run time, and rating based only on sci-fi action and mild humor.... and my nephew and niece are coming to town for X-Makkah ... woo hoo!

 

RoboCop's Runtime was 1hr 42 minutes uncut it does a lot in that time, Dredd was 1hr 35 Mins that was a breath of fresh air, as a sub 100 minute runtime, and taut editing, a real throwback. If you're pushing 120+ mins then your film is likely to be flabby, I prefer Bloat Free films. This is a trend that James Cameron and Peter Jackson are slightly responsible for, with big effects blockbusters that also performed in awards ceremonies, the Money men said lets have more of that, and so big effects picture runtimes crept ever upward from 150 minutes, and that got flabbier and more bloated when really even at script stage the red pen should have be wielded more brutally.

 

The shorter runtime also has something else that will lead to this film's success: more showtimes and a greater ease for people to fit it into their lives.

With it being less than two hours theaters can squeeze another 2 to 3 showings out every day. ANd that means it is easier for people to go see it. Instead of "Well, we can get up at 9 am or wait till right at lunch or go at 4 and have a late supper..." people can easily jump into it and then go about their lives. Which means that it will bring in more money against the cost.

 

I love longer movies BUT Quality over quantity. Make sure the movie is good first.
