Wasnt really a fan of Andor in R1. Would have much more prefered a series that focuses on Chirrute and Baze. And then of course there are much more deserving characters in the OT and PT who could lead their own TV series.
Yeah, cuz people totally want to see Cassian Andor The Series. I'm sure there are, but very few when compared to the entirety of SW fans.
I’ll take it. I wish we could get a devoted Filoni show about the Rogue One crew, too. Or at least one season, but hey, they are all died the same day they met. More Cassian and K-2 is great.
I really liked Rogue One. Diego Luna is a good actor, and his return would also mean more of Alan Tudyk as K2-SO (which is a great thing). However, there’s really nothing left to do with that character. His story was already told, and we already know his backstory. I’ll watch it for sure though. It’s still Star Wars, and there is potential for some good espionage plots.
I like Diego Luna, and liked Cassian well enough — I’d check it out. Now that you mention it, I’d be more jazzed about a Rogue One prequel anthology series, that gave us a bit more back-story on not just Cassian, but also characters like Chirrute and Baze. Each character (depending on which actors they could get to come back) could get a couple episodes.
I tried as hard as I could to remember, without googling, who Cassian was before I clicked the article. Eventually I was just like "Oh duh, he's probably from Solo." No, this guy was in Rogue One, a movie I've seen twice. And he was like the second main character. And I completely forgot he existed. Of all the characters to have a spin-off, they went with him? Disney, what the fuck are you doing, lads?
Like The Mandalorian, I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I really liked the cast of Rogue One, and Cassian was one of my favorites. Honestly, this show is kind of an obvious idea. Diego Luna is a fantastic actor who played a cool character, and they can probably get him fairly cheap since he's not a huge name in Hollywood. Has it been confirmed as a prequel? Most people will probably assume it is since Cassian was heavily implied to have died in Rogue One. Technically we never saw his death, and he and Jyn probably had the vaguest deaths of the bunch. It might be an unpopular opinion, but in a way I'm hoping it takes place after Rogue One. We could see what Cassian was up to during the events of the other OT films, and progress his story forward. Plus, Cassian went through a character change in the movie. Post RO Cassian seemed more cold-blooded, considering he shot a guy in the back.
Cassian was kind of a nothing character beyond his first scene, but I could see this being quite a good series if it capitalizes on the little bits of his character that I always thought had great potential. Like his growing up fighting the Republic in the Clone Wars on the side of the Separatists, and going into the "awful things" he said he did for the Rebellion. It could offer a new perspective on familiar events and concepts in the franchise, which is what I feel like the expanded universe fiction is best used for.
