I don’t see the classics as a modern G1 Optimus. I see it as an early 2000’s rendition that has a lot of un-needed kibble.

There is a lot of modern feeling Optimus designs but they don’t have toys. A lot of them are from the idw comics.

    Indeed, that's your prerogative.

For me, most of the 'modern' interpretations Universe molds had, never did anything for me ; to me, they're too loose an interpretation of the original character designs.

    Universe .45% - 65% true to G1. ( save for a handful of exceptions )
    Everything after Thrilling 30's .65% - 90% true to G1. ( save for a handful of exceptions )

I happen to prefer the latter bracket.

So the bot mode really looks nice. The battle damage is a bit off putting but what is really making me consider skipping is how small the truck mode looks. It almost looks to be the size of a deluxe.

Its frustrating hearing such comments from fellow generations fans after handling the product and knowing that this is their best Voyager Generations Prime since Classics.

Love the truck mode. I wish the bot mode wasn’t so so G1 but I’m still excited to eventually own this. Hope I see him in the wild soon!

I like what haskaromy did with this Prime. It gives us options, if you like classics Prime more, you don't necessarily have to buy this figure, BUT if you like it, it does give us a pre-earth Prime. It's a cool option.

How stable is the axe blade when out, it's not loose is it?

I see a red truck, and I want it painted black.
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black.

This is easily the best voyager Prime since Classics. This is going to be the one people cherish and talk about the same way Classics was cherished for years after it came out. It’s incredibly handsome, engaging and fun to transform, poses like a champ and unlike a lot of recent figures it’s quite hefty and solid. Nice job Hasbro & Takara.

And his various ports are quite fun!

He looks fine, a good rendition of a pre-earth generations optimus, which is just what I wanted. I'm glad he scales so we'll with Orion Pax and classics Optimus.

Also not surprise people here don't care for him. He's clearly intended to be a cybertronian design but people don't care they just want a scaled down MP10 at standard retail, as power of the primes proved.

Some of the objective differences between the molds ( let alone the differences in articulation. )

    Pic from Kevin Liu's review:
    - Siege Prime's a hair taller
    - Siege Prime has smoke stacks, Universe Prime hasn't
    - Siege Prime has some forearm kibble, but Universe Prime's forearm kibble is substantially more glaring
    - Siege Prime's wheels tuck in nicely into his torso, but Universe Prime's wheels kinda stick out

“But the paint! I don’t like my figures looking dirty! The new truck is weird and small.”

But seriously the Siege figure is so much better. Like look at classics yellow paint. That’s the bigger eye sore.

Like I said, that post is pretty much just objective differences, regardless of style difference.
I can understand if someone simply happens to prefer the style of the Universe Prime.

If any, the battle paint damage is the only thing not making me insta-buying all of this Siege figures. It's good for my wallet tho :p

I said I am considering skipping it. I have only seen pictures of the figure. My final call will be when I see it on a store shelf. Besides I will get the eventual Takara Tokyo Show Exclusive Black Convoy version of the mold anyway.

There is also the increased articulation. Particularly the feet. But anyways, I do like classics Prime a lot, but that forearm kibble irked me something fierce. Not because it was there, but because it didn't tab in and was always shifting around when posing it.

I have Voyager Optimus Prime from Siege and I promise you he doesn't look dirty he looks scuffed or weathered, and that's only if the light shines on it just right. A lot of people are using these adjectives like dirty or poo or something like that. That's not the case.

Yeah, the light has to hit it right to even see it, but I can still see why people don't like it. I didn't necessarily mind the battle damage look, but it will be so inconsistent in my collection I decided to remove it as much as possible.

Started on Optimus today, still have some work to do on the thighs and some fine detail work on the chest vents, but he's looking much better now.

As much as I'm not a huge fan of the battle damage, I'll take it over the stickers any day of the week. At least the battle damage is sort of optional. The stickers often replaced important color delineations or markings, like Blitzwing and Octane's wings. You can peel them off, but they look weird without them.

Everybody is missing the point. The theme is battle wary bots.
