I just got my hand on Siege Optimus prime and Despite People already posting about Siege Optimus i though i would put mine up just to give people more ideas and options. First i would like to point out that the Axe he comes with can have the handle flipped and made to look like a awkward looking Guitar. Next i went to my TF shelf and grabbed POTP Optimus, Ripped out Orion, converted it to trailer mode and plopped it on the back of truck mode. Then i got even crazier and gave the trailer a "Anti-Everything" Tower mode witch is actually taller than POTP Optimus himself.....well almost.....i think. Any way it helps with city/fortress building and is a pocket/lego saving use if you just want Orion and already have ANY other Optimus (Minus Deluxe classic, nothing can save him, not even this.) Also as a small tip for Combiner Enthusiasts you can use CW hands/feet instead of the POTP ones for the combiner hand after cutting the fingers free, while the POTP hands are great the CW ones have just a little more bulk and look ascetically pleasing. Yes you do need to cut them up a bit it is worth the cuts and scarred plastic. Some of you may already do that, or just don't like the CW hands or that mod and i can respect that. This is for those who don't care to bust up there figures a little. Here is a of the scale and the hand if you want a reference. Plus using Slug and Snarl as the legs for POTP Perfect Effect Volcanicus helps with pose-ability and looks nicer
So quick Addition to this. If you do some very tiny carving you can remove the backpack of Optimus by the swivel joint. then unscrew the forearms, remove the extending headlight parts by their swivel, screw the forearms back together and you are done. Not only do you get a cleaner Optimus Prime in robot mode, but with some Styrene plastic wizardry you can get the G1 Truck cab! Witch i think is just amazing that i had just discovered this. Someone please make a tutorial on improving this mod. I Apologize in advance for the poor photo quality. To do this just do what the photos below show.
Its not necessarily 1000 Times Better, but i have always wanted a G1 Optimus and could not afford MP-10, nor did Deluxe Classic look at all nice in truck mode. After figuring this out litterly minutes ago i could not stop smiling. I then figured it would be nice to share this discovery with the rest of the TF Community.
Looks great! Question - can the "battle damage" be removed using isopropyl alcohol? I prefer my Primes with no silver spatter!
I have yet to try and remove the paint, but i think baltmatrix said something about that in his review. I personally don't mind the silver paint, but i can see why its not liked. Though speaking of improving i might go back and try my hand at using Styrene plastic to make the truck mode look more G1 then look like i just tore off a bunch of pieces
Yes, you can. I posted a thread to show him and Megatron off. Minor/Repaint: - Siege Optimus Prime & Megatron clean (no battle damage)
The top of the truck mode is pretty clean minus a small gap where the head flips out. But with some Styrene Plastic it can be cleaned up i'm just not sure how to do it.
I'm planning on cutting the light covers off the roof so it still covers the gap behind front windows and flips down for grill and bumper. Then trimming the rear wheel wells to show more of the wheels. Also want to make the stacks longer. Btw, the 3rd party trailer made for Hasbro Evasion Prime works well just need to make a connection.
Or the Spoiler from IDW Prime's Truck mode to host the panel and fill that gap, at least, I would do that, I just needed to see if it would theoretically work.
