Ah, but then you miss out on the 'suffering and pain of being a horrible mishmash not meant to be' aspect.

    ... I may have issues. :p

With that logic, nobody asked for the beefy and disproportionate CW Optimus.

Plus, that might also lead to less shelfwarming too for the ones that don’t sell as well.

You know... I am somewhat amused by this recent 'size commotion'.

Especially concerning Ultra Magnus and Shockwave.
I can somewhat understand the sentiment such as "OMG he's only 21cm at the top of his shoulders!".

But really, it's more of a sentiment than a rational argument.
Afterall, the characters Ultra Magnus and Shockwave aren't supposed to be Skyfire levels of tall in the first place.

In G1 Ultra Magnus is only a bit bigger than Optimus Prime. Just see his character debut in TFTM86 for reference.
In the Sunbow cartoon season 3 he's basically similar size as Cyclonus.
In Japanese G1, he's no taller than Sixshot. In fact, he winds up being portrayed as the underdog character.

Similar thing applies to Shockwave. He isn't supposed to be significantly bigger than Megatron.
Basically, both Siege Ultra Magnus and Shockwave are simply staying true to their G1 character design traits.

But then I hear them cry out loud "But OMG, we're still being ripped off at Leader class price point".

Well, let me ask you your opinion then about what would have been the most likely alternative scenario:
In that case, you would have gotten an Ultra Magnus and a Shockwave at the same 21cm top-of-the-shoulders height, at Voyager class price - HOWEVER -

If this scenario would have become reality, I am pretty much 100% sure this 'alternative scenario' Ultra Magnus and Shockwave would feature a cutback in terms of articulation,
more gappy/hollow bits and even less paint apps.

Effectively, they would wind up as Siege Voyagers who compare as subpar to the rest of Siege in terms of articulation, construction and finish.

I dunno man, the Siege figures have a much higher parts count, more paint, better plastic, and less hollowness than most of the figures they've released in the last 5 years. I don't think the fact that they're a quarter inch smaller is really saving them that much money, but I'm all for it if it means that we get better figures overall.

See I hated CW Magnus (and all of it's offshoots) this new Magnus is what I've wanted from a Magnus toy for years. I really like how the "inner robot" is bulkier and almost more brutish than Optimus, small features like that differentiate two guys who have similar body types.

    I guess that's true.
    But I'm the other way.
I didn't mind the hollow and even the stickers all that much.
I was doing mix and match and Reprolabels and os ko's anyway to get my perfect version of every Prime Wars character.
Maybe size is more important to me than most... is what she said.
(I'm not giving anyone an opening ;) )
    (Oh wait... I just did:eek: )

If that would make them like CW Magnus (which I'm not replacing) minus the minimus and a voyager Shockwave who is comparable in quality I wouldn't have minded one bit.
I get that people are happy with the lack of hollow and more paint but I was very happy with what we got in Prime Wars in that respect.
It's just a matter of what is most important to you as a collector, but I feel that they could have and should have done what they are doing at the start of CW and kept it consistent instead of this rebooting all the time.

How easy is it gonna be to clean these guys up? Is any of the Battle Damage Paint overlapping with core colors or something that might get removed with rubbing alcohol?

This ^^^^^ has been my only Optimus mold for the last 11 years... I've passed on any other CHUG OP since because all I really wanted was another decent Voyager class G1 Optimus that's maybe 4 or 5 cm's taller. But instead this new Siege version might in fact be shorter. Which is kinda disappointing but not a deal breaker.

FYI: For ME this is about Hasbro working to approve on the "FULL PICTURE" below. I'm not starting from scratch so not all of these figures will be replaced just because Siege is.

That's looking at it from purely an individual collector's point of view.

What CW Magnus was part of, was being part of a retool template, re-used to the max - with no Prime sized inner white robot - certainly no inner white robot which transforms into the full front cab.
On top of that, lack of ankle tilt, wrist swivel and waist swivel... let alone the more hollow/gappy aspects of it all.

Both the general mass consumer audience and many collectors were ready for leaving that template behind and the direction of Siege, is a logical way to do that, also from Hasbro's point of view.

I just literally rewatched some TFTM86 scenes and Magnus is definetely not supposed to be that much more big than Prime.
