Studio Series Optimus Prime left a lot to me unsatisfied. The wide chest, short smokestacks, and backpack all bothered me. So I decided to fix those. This was my end result:

From the side. He has a relatively slim backpack

The smokestacks are pretty self explanatory. I got one of those sticks at the end of a Push-Up and widened the hole so it’d fit over the existing smoke stacks. Then I cut them down to size and painted them silver and stuck them on.

For the shoulders, I used the method @therdabsol used, except a bit cleaner and more precise

The backpack was quite the process. So I the top section of the backpack off that stuck up behind his head. I cut right above where the hinge existed. Then, i cut the piece into 3 pieces. 2 cuts were made right alongside the little extra ridge sticking up above everywhere else. This also lined up with two slots that tabbed into the tabs on his back neck area. So after doing that, I glued the two outer pieces into their tabs. The center piece was tricky. I got a small ball joint and attached each part to the corresponding positions on the main back pack and the extra piece. Sounds simple, but it was pretty tedious work and took multiple tries. The panel could now fold into the backpack.

Truck mode is relatively unaltered. Just now the top of the truck has more panel lines. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied. If I could paint better, I would’ve done more paintwork but I can’t.

Eh I still won’t be picking this guy up (or the announced retool). But for some reason, I enjoy seeing pics of painted up SS OP’s. This one definitely looks stellar. Nice one bruh
