Which version of Soar did you need? I see TFSource has the blue one in stock.

Haha I know giga are much bigger which is why I don't have any of the other figures but I'm more interested in their swoop. If he as tall as the FT dino in bot mode then I'm fine with it so hopefully he doesn’t tower them

I need the blue version of soar but I probably won't pick him up unless I can get it during a flash sale. I normally don't double dip on figures but I made an exception for the FT dino since I got Scoria/Cesium and MP Grimlock/FT Grinder which left me with extra Dinos which is the only reason I decided to get an extra set to display in bot and dino. I'm currently missing a second set of Soar and Stomp. I know Gigapower's are too big to scale for FT so I have to wait for a re-issue of stomp for Sludge but I may just pick up Giga's Swoop just to have a different mold of swoop since I’m more flexible with him in regard to scale since I prefer him to be taller in bot mode than the current FT swoop

I'm a bit torn, I have the other GP dinos and I want to complete the set, but being true to the cartoon means I would have to buy the blue swoop, but I figured since the other dinos released so far have red chests, that the red swoop would match better. Thoughts?

    Quick question......

Does anyone know if the Giga Slag metallic version will ever get re-issued?

I have the Sludge and will soon have the Snarl but missed out on the Slag....

    Thanks.

I wouldn't want to stand next to you, if we were in war fighting the enemy because I know who they'll take out first :p  I do agree with you though.

As someone that owns the FT's, I don't know why I'm drawn to get all 5 of these now. 1 down (Sludge), 4 to go.

since I got since I got fanstoys Dinobots as show representations, and my Chrome grass or already has the toy style black thighs, I might as well go full toy and get the red swoop

I dunno, Swoop was blue in the cartoon, and it never bugged me that he didn't match the red on the others. I like cartoon colors on Slag, too, and that means red head while the Sludge, Snarl, and Grimlock have black heads (and I want silver thighs, if Giga ever gets around to releasing some for chrome Grassor). And Grimlock's more gold than red, really. If Grimmy' chest were red, then maybe I'd be more concerned about color coordination, but as it is I want cartoon accuracy.

Wasn't Swoop being blue in the cartoon actually a mistake? They used the diaclone color scheme then didnt bother to change it?

Sure. And the script called for Rumble but the animators kept drawing the purple tape even though the toy packaging said the purple tape was Frenzy. Repeat an error enough times and it becomes canon, though. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't get the red one. Maybe you do want that color consistency. Maybe you want toy colors. Or maybe the old Marvel comics were a bigger influence on you than the cartoon. Maybe red's your favorite color. Those are all perfectly valid reasons to go for the red one. All I'm saying is, regardless of the reasons behind it, cartoon Swoop is blue, and cartoon accuracy is a reason (my reason) to go with the blue one.

If you like blue, buy blue. I always figured it made more sense he was blue, being the only airborne Dinobot...

In pterosaur mode, at any rate. Unlike the rest of the Autobots, the Dinobots could fly like the Decepticons in robot mode.

I had the same thing with the FansToys version. I Always wanted a blue Swoop. Not just because of the cartoon, but also because I loved the look of the Diaclone figure. So when FT released their Dinobots I immediately went for the blue one. (And if I were to buy the GP versions, which I don't because to me the FT versions are already too big, I'd go for red from the start.)

But in the end, I just didn't like it and exchanged it for the red one (plus extra gold bits -- which I still have to install). Swoop being blue just stands out more: it worked for the Diaclone version, because Grimlock and Slag also had blue parts.

If you want cartoon accuracy (but then why buy these because they're not that cartoon accurate) go for blue. If you want toy accuracy (and these are more toy accurate), go for red. And if you want more consistency in team colours, go for red.

Because I don’t need slavish adherence to the cartoon, but I would like something that does, for me, conjure memories of what I most enjoyed about Transformers and that was the cartoon. Swoop was blue.

I don’t want a Devastator that looks exactly like the cartoon. Not only was the cartoon version rather plain, but his face changed repeatedly and so did his size. Thus, Constructor is a great Devastator for me, particularly with the second head. He conjures all of the might and power I remember seeing in Devastator in the cartoon, despite not being anywhere remotely close to 100% accurate to the cartoon. Same goes for these Dinobots.

Fandom is a nuanced beast. We’re not all found at opposing ends of the cartoon/toy/comic spectrum. A lot of us fall at various points in between.
