Much better than the other options. Fortunately for me I don't care about the characters.

Aww shit. Beachcomber in da house!!! Hopefully, not in 2020...

A golden version would be interesting as well.

Wow. FT continue to nail the bot modes and mix toon accuracy with detail in a great way. To me, this looks better than Arkose in bot mode. The alt mode is a little too squat and chibi though. All good. Arkose can be my alt mode beachcomber and FT can be my bot. I like their Brawn as well but again the alt mode is a little off to me. I may pick up Final VictoryBrawn as an Alt mode.

BC Brawny works for me. Ft's version is all legs.
I might consider FT Beachcomber as my XTB version came with some very glaring QC issues.
FT Warpath is a no go. I prefer BC Wardog.

Never liked BC Brawny, and it's really showing it's age to me now.
I always loved XTB Beachcomber but this just looks so clean in bot mode (I'm really into the hyper toon look). Plus as I'm expanding into an alt mode collection, I'll probably be buying a 2nd Beachcomber and these two (XTB and FT) each do one mode better than the other. It's a win/win.
As for Warpath, FT nails the bot again for me (for toon accuracy). BC Wardog (veteran version) will be my alt mode though.

I like this the least of the three FT minibot designs. The aesthetics are too close to the current Takara full toon look rather than the rest of FanToys's work. This will likely be the first '84-'85 cast member I skip from FT.

They both look great. I'd say FT Brawn looks better than Badcube's Brawny. FT Beachcomber undoubtedly will be much higher quality than XTB's Arkose.

Yup, there is something for everyone. But I am pretty sure staunch FT fans will sleep better tonight knowing their awesome 3rd party company got them covered.

And BSF would probably be creaming in his pants now.

One of the rare times where I prefer something other than FT's version. Arkose, you're safe.

I'm sure Dunerider will be solid though.

I didn't notice earlier, but they also managed to fold away Beachcomber's headlights for bot mode.

Technically Beachcomber isn't meant to be a dune buggy. It is an easy mistake to make (I know I was making it). He actually transforms into a M1040 Chenowth "Hellfire" Fast Attack Vehicle. Obviously repurposed without the weapons due to Beachcomber's personality. I expect it was selected for it's performance driving compared to civilian vehicles. That is why the wheels aren't bigger.

Pretty impressive how they managed to give the bot mode such a clean back. Serious props for that. Lack of neck and too broad shoulders make him look kind of muscle bound, though. Beachcomber shouldn't be that buff. Also, that alt mode just plain sucks. As @Curium mentioned, he's meant to be that military vehicle, not some generic looking chibi buggy. Masterpiece has always been about realistic (or at least mostly realistic) vehicle modes turning into idealized or, more recently, hyper toon accurate bot modes.

I do rate the minibots harder to judge on this. I can understand why some people would want them less real world than larger figures. On Cubex/BadCube huff I argued for the real alt mode that we ended up getting with BC Huff for this exact reasoning, but upon reflection I think I do prefer Cubex Huff.

Hmmn, hadn't actually noticed the lack of a neck. It's a bit off-putting. Not a fan of the chibi buggy but I'm really only in this for bot mode.
It's good. Fix the neck (or give hime one!) and it will be great.

I might be interested in Beachcomber. My XTB Arkose looks too small next to DX9 Powerglide, TW Seaspray and XTB Klaatu. Do we know how tall Dunerider is going to be?

We have only seen FT's 3 new minibots next to each other in bot mode so nothing to directly judge it by unfortunately. I would guess it would be similar to the head of FT's Seaspray (as opposed to the yellow bar above it), but that is 100% speculation.

I never knew what that vehicle was actually called, quick look at Wikipedia and it provides some interesting information so thanks for that. Technically I suppose the closest civilian offering would be a sandrail where a true dune buggy would be more like a Manx..think Speed Buggy I guess.
It's a minor nitpick for me but that's one Arkose got right because if you look at the picture you posted you can see the rear wheels are slightly bigger looking at the offset of the wheel itself. Luckily I like Beachcomber enough to consider double dipping. Arkose for alt mode and this guy because I didn't enjoy transforming Arkose ;)  Appreciate the information on the vehicle though,I didn't want to just say that one that looks like the AWE Striker. I like seeing what the actual real world basis is for something.

When I said same size I was thinking in terms of Diameter of the wheel, I had failed to think of or look at the width of the tire.

I like the info on the real vehicles too. Every once in a while I bring up Swindle's saying I wish someone would do his real alt mode (which isn't a Jeep). I don't need everyone to do it (I know I'm fighting a losing battle against "toon accurate"), but just one would be nice.
