I wouldn’t call it a terrible design, just not a great fit for Optimus. Personally I prefer almost any other design for Optimus, but I would say that it’s a cool design that might have worked better for a different Prime.
Better from some cartoon designs prime had energon, cybertron where bad, wasn’t there Optimus prime train toy if I’m not mistaken for Japanese version prime combine with trains
Yes, but all of those actually look like a transformer, AOE-TLK Prime looks like an Iron Man suit with Mideval ques and an Optimus head. That film had some of the worst designs (my opinion) including razor blade Bumblebee. What a mess! I’d call that one the worst, then Prime. You can at least make out what he’s supposed to be, can’t say the same about be and his twizzler arms and legs. Makes me wanna throw up in my mouth a little just thinking about it.
Definitely for a different character, but for ANY transformer would be a shame because it doesn’t look like it has an alt mode at ALL. That’s my major gripe, muscle man design of which no alt mode parts are visible. But hey, how many decepticons have we got in the films who look like a mess in robot mode? It’s all relative-and not real! Us fanboys have to gripe about SOMETHING, right?
That’s fair. I think it would have been an interesting design for like one of the Primes or Knights, but yeah not as an earth transformer.
Optimus Prime and Megatron look like a person wearing a suit. More Power Rangers than actual robots. They look cool though.
Yeah there were pros and cons to the more human look they gave the TFs in AoE and TLK. They looked great but not like Transformers at all. Jazz and Sentinel were the closest they had ever gotten to the post DotM human look, but they still had a lot of specific car parts on them that made them look like they turned into vehicles. Jazz was my favorite design so I’ll talk more about him here. He had the most human look in the first three movies, but there were things about him that made him look more like a Transformer rather than a human. For one, the car parts were clearly placed (bumper in the front, lights on the forearms, wheels on the shoulders and heels, lower taillights on the thighs, and upper taillights and spoiler on the upper back. And his head looked more alien than human, what with the strange face, visor, and helmet. That’s why I loved Jazz so much. He looked like a car and a robot with human enough proportions. (Also his design homaged his G1 look enough while still being able to look more realistic and practical). But later designs only seemed to care about robot designs with various parts scattered around to look enough like car robots. Still nice designs though.
I hope Megatron does more than just stand there with his sword over his shoulder. It's an awesome figure, this is the best movie rendition of Megatron. I wanna see more articulation
No kidding! Ignore the arms and head - huge boobs, narrow waist, fat thighs with skirt-like armor, and something akin to High-heeled go-go boots
