They could have built a universal in there fairly easily though even without ball joints.

Universal? If it means more than molded mushroom peg slotting into thigh piece, you're asking too much from a budget line. The best solution would have been a ball joint but CB seems to be trying to push for "SOLID/NO PARTS POPPING OFF" figures. Shockwave already has more going on than most other CB figures. Hell, Starscream/Jetfire, Optimus and Bumblebee don't even HAVE knees.

I'm still not sure about Big Powered and the gang because of the Headmaster gimmick....

The hollow legs aren't helping either. :lol

The more I see of the battle damage decos, the more I hate them. It looks like dirt.

Hopefully we get clean versions of these figures at some point. Until then, I'll just pick up the Micromasters and call it a day.

It would have literally taken one extra part for each knee though.

Prices in EU have been high for the past 15 years already, so nothing new here.

But, getting to the point: Yeah, me and many other fans are glad to see a mainline which puts emphasis on
points, other than some of the ones you prefer, like sheer size for example.
Thankfully no more abominations like Generations Onslaught or Powerglide.

And those are abominations how exactly? they were priced at half of what these "leader" class toys, had electronics, more plastic and overall were far more solid toys than what this could ever hope to be.

A part and a pin, probably. Like any line, Hasbro works within a budget. If they add a part or two to Shockwave, a part or two comes off Sideswipe. And, obviously, working below budget is even better for the bottom line.

I know there's been a couple fans here who have 3D printed a knee joint, though. It doesn't look too bad and solves the one thing that's really holding that good figure back from being great.

eh. I'm glad we got Onslaught because of Botcon Clench. That's just an awesome figure.

I can finally retire the Universe Storm Cloud from my shelf, though.

I liked that Onslaught in general, as he was a pretty neat figure.

After messing around with Clench not that long ago, I will admit that mold has aged in terms of modern toy expectations. He's kind of limited in his range of motion. Still a dynamic looking figure, though. And after selling Onslaught, I'm glad I have it again.

I like this new wave despite the "battle damage" paint.

Do you think Enamel Thinner will remove them ugly smudges from Megatron's chest w/o messing up the rest?

I'm just glad to see the stickers are gone, as those are what finally drove me away from the official stuff minus a Legends figure here and there.

The point I am trying to show you is about having a different perspective.

    You list merits:
    - sheer size and mass of plastic
    - electronic features
    - supposed sturdiness

What puts me off from those toys:
    - intrusive electronic features. I and many fans have a strong dislike for any battery compartment larger than a button cell.
    - an excessive use of metal screws and old style engineering.

Both these points simply produce a large figure which doesn't succeed to make the best out of its size, resulting into poor articulation and poor overall proportions.

Those early Generations, they were very loose G1 interpretations.
Just look at both of them, the proportions and style are incredibly off.
Yeah, maybe that's your thing. I know it's not my thing for sure.

This WFC Siege Shockwave is his appropiate size in relation to his fellow Decepticons and he actually looks like Shockwave - even if I were to paint him neon green - anyone could still identify him as Shockwave.

    I list WFC Siege merits:

    - Appropiate size of characters in relation to one another.
    - Highly evocative but refined G1 style interpretations.
    - Playfeatures which actually aren't intrusive to the main engineering or messing up overall proportions.
    - Unique battle worn paint apps ( yeah I know matter of taste, but I'm pretty sure they'll look better in person than on all of this preview imagery )
    - Articulation which actually translates to nice poses, instead of being 'paper tiger' points of articulation.

Bottomline is, you could either give figures like Shockwave a chance... or you could do 3P or Masterpiece, or maybe support IP theft by buying OS KO's.

I'm just glad fans like me can simply pick up these official mainline figures, thankful for the direction of CHUG since Thrilling 30's.

That is exactly what I am talking about. Magnus is very small compared to other Leaders from the looks of it.

Also, you just need to look at how much other things cost (from essentials like food, to luxury items like Transformers and Lego) now compared to what they did 15 years ago to see how unrealistic it is expecting things to stay the same. Almost everything I bought then I could get for 1/2 to 2/3 of the price it is now.

It isn’t that prices have suddenly gone through the roof, in the US they’ve been artificially held back as loss leaders for years. Welcome to the rest of the world, unfortunately!

Is it just me or does Flywheels/Skytread look a bit on the small size for a Deluxe? I'm looking at the group pic and he looks quite tiny compared to Megatron. I know that Hasbro is playing around with the sizes of each figure within their respective class so maybe that's it. But if Voyager figures are 7" height on average and the Megs and OP figures both look to be bang-on that height based on other pics I have seen, then Flywheels looks to be less than the standard 5.5" height for a Deluxe, no?

Either way, Flywheels is bought on sight. If he's a bit smaller than an average deluxe to me that's even better since the G1 toy was itself smallish.

If they made WFC Trailbreaker or Hoist mold what size do you think he would be, a Deluxe class or Voyager class?

Deluxe. Large size one like Ironhide (I believe he’s not much shorter than Optimus apparently) rather than small one the size of Reflector though.
