It doesn't matter since he didn't even mention about the cannons.

The source made the unfortunate mistake of trying to remove the cannons. All traces of his existence were wiped from this reality.

Hopefully it was just a bad copy. Otherwise, this confirms that the MPM line doesn’t stand for quality or source accuracy

So far only Optimus has had any serious quality issues though. Bee and especially Barricade are aces! Do you own any of MPMs?

Yes, MPM3- which I think is great. I avoided MPM4 because of the widespread QC issues. And MPM7 is not screen accurate, so won’t be purchasing him. Can’t comment on barricade at all, but assuming he is great, that makes 2 good MPMs since the reboot and 3 bad ones because of source inaccuracy or poor design/ QC

I think MPM 07 will be an outlier and MPM04 is actually really nice if you get one of the KO's that fix the QC issues. Design wise, I think MPM 07 is the only one that's bad. You should totally get Barricade though, he's great!

Don’t buy KO’s, but I have a suspicion that MPM4 is going to be redone at some point because Optimus molds are usually milked dry. Barricade has been on my radar for a while and may pick him up at the end of the year.

Definitely recommend barricade. Though I like all of them, he’s probably the most fun to flip back and forth between modes.

I have a feeling the MPM line isn't as refined as the MP line because of how HasTak perceives fan expectations. Older fans tend to have much higher standards so HasTak can't cut corners on QC or paint applications on anything that hits the MP line. We are looking at over 40 MP releases and only a few of them have had QC issues out of the gate. Of those, only MP-05 or MP-09 were inherently flawed from a design point of view. MP-27 and MP-28 had terrible chrome flaking issues but that was apparently caused by a change in factory production and those issues weren't present on later runs. MP-01, MP-03/MP-11, and MP-10 have been reissued and recolored to an absurd degree but even then their molds still hold up surprisingly well with later releases.

I sincerely doubt the cost cutting measures on MPM-3 and MPM-4 would've been allowed on an MP release. My guess is that HasTak figured movie fans wouldn't be as discerning as G1/BW fans. It looked like that was going to change with MPM-5 but the handling of MPM-6 and MPM-7 has been pretty bad.

Such a shame. MPM-3 and MPM-4 are easily on MP levels of engineering but a lot of that is overlooked because of crappy paint applications and QC respectively. I'm sure both will eventually be reissued with those problems corrected but HasTak lost more than a few customers for those releases to LT. MPM-7, while I'm sure is a nice figure, isn't accurate which is pretty terrible for anything with a "Masterpiece" label.

Edit: To be clear, MPM-3 didn't have wide spread QC issues. The only thing wrong with MPM-3 were the corners cut on paint applications. MPM-4 was the only figure (so far) in the MPM line plagued with QC issues.

I don't think it has anything to do with older fans vs newer fans' expectations.

Just curious, since maybe I was lucky with my copy of mpm3, what qc issues did that figure have exactly?

The only things I've heard were lose ankle joints, which is a design flaw, and broken thumbs or ab. Those those were not widespread, as far as I'm aware. There aren't any real QC issues with MPM 03

He didn't have any widespread problems. A couple of isolated incidents.

None for MPM-3, the only real issue with that release were paint applications. I should have been more clear - only MPM-4 was a QC mess.

I can't speak for others but I rarely handle MPs once I have them in a pose I like. I might transform them once in a blue moon but for the most part they are treated like statues.

Barricade yes. Bee and Prime no. I find Bee's legs too annoying to be fun, and Prime is just Prime. I haven't transformed the RotF leader in years either.

Disappointing if Ironhide can’t stay tabbed together, hopefully reviewer got an outlier copy or maybe didn’t transform it correctly? Or at the very least maybe there’s a mod that can be done to fix it. Just want evidence dispelling this issue
