Good idea, but you DON'T mess with the collector lines, the out rage would be huge. I feel bot bots will replace Tiny Turbo Changers and the only reason they haven't merged The main cartoon and preschool cartoon is rescuebots still does gang busters. For generations, They dropped legends after doing the season 1 and 2 minibots, they get rid of deluxe because that is the size of most characters.

Had a 40 minute long conversation about TLJ in the car with a couple of friends yesterday. Actually made the ride ten minutes longer as the driver got distracted and went on autopilot, started driving to his workplace. But one thing I pointed out is that TLJ was not a toyetic Star Wars movie. At all. Most of the characters are still dressed like the last one, so you don't have much motivation to buy the new versions ( Even if you had ANH Luke or Pilot Suit Luke, you wanted Jedi Luke due to how cool the black outfit and lightsaber made him look) and as I pointed out Rose Tico is not a character who's going to sell a lot of toys. And the Rebels new vehicle? It's litirally junk in the movie, so it's not really an appealing toy. Oh and my friends reactions to hearing they went back to five point articulation? "Why?!" Not going into detail on the rest of the conversation due to not being relevant, but let's face it we need more things that would look like fun to play with, for starters in star Wars.

As for Transformers, I think it could use streamlining, but I'd streamline it in terms of who it's aimed at. A line for little tykes, the slightly older kids line and generations. And mix things up a bit more, you don't need 15 Optimus Primes that pretty much look the same.

Mainly Star Wars, they can't do to much for episode 9 or we'll have anthor profit loss all over again.

Yeah, over-leveraging has a habit of making cheap product, just usually for financial institutions and not consumers.

And, I share Hoffman’s curiosity, but MarketWatch & CNBC are only saying that Marvel, Disney, MLP and Hasbro TV supposedly “cushioned the blow.”

But, I dunno that the actual report has brand by brand analytics, though that would be the answer. So, uh, buy some shares? :p

I too swooned for that botbot with his Printed Circuit Board Sword and what looks a bit to the left of them like a Glazed Ham Bludgeon botbot.

So, I’m way more excited than I thought I’d be for these guys... especially given the other post today featuring product shoots! :D

Still, I’m a little concerned that the Gamepad Paladin and the Hamurai will be the rare or “chase” figures in the blind bags!

I do not know if this would help Hasbro, but they should have there traditional Hasbro toy department, catering to children and retailers. Then there should be Hasbro Collectible department catering to collectors, and retailer exclusives. The collectible umbrella should cover G.I. Joe, Marvel, Star Wars, and any other brands that has an adult buying base. Develop this department by collecting the demographics of who wants what, price points, characters, vehicles, statues, etc... Times have changed and Hasbro as well as any other toy/collectors should move to the new business model. This may not help them with there current losses, but may help in the future.

I don’t think they should drop it.
They should re-examine the formula. Star Wars toy’s were around long before Disney slapped their name on the boxes to raise prices.

Just look at what worked, why it worked, and readjust accordingly.

And have Disney start making movies into toy commercial instead of Art house experimental pics.

When I started sounding the alarm about this, I figured it was a widespread problem but absolutely everybody else was trying to be "professional" about it.

Comparing numbers to last year, it looks like the two brands that dropped the baseline that far were Star Wars and Disney Princesses

I actually find these numbers reassuring, frankly. For the reasons others have stated, but also because it seems the fallout from TRU's collapse wasn't nearly as bad as it might have been. It was clearly felt and had an impact on them, but it could have been much worse. They did say before the collapse that they were taking steps to mitigate their exposure to it, so it seems to have worked.

Looks like it's mostly from TRU, and with lack of the new emerging properties hitting market, next year should hopefully start posting gains again.

And star wars is a keep. With the new toon coming, and the next installment, it'll go back on the rise coming up. Plus they are still posting embedded losses from the Saban acquisitions since those have yet to air or hit market either.

POTP actually seems to be moving best in my area. The biggest issue is wave distribution, my nearest Wal-Mart and Target don't seem to have ever gotten wave 4 with most of the Terrorcons, but did get wave 5 with Novastar. Even the repacks are doing okay.

But Hasbro definitly needs to work on that, especially for the more collector oriented Generations. And it's a real problem with Combiners. I still need Cutthroat for Abominus, but can find Rippersnapper with ease instead.
That's what happens when you decide to show you don't just cookie cutter like the MCU movies and let directors have free reign when you really, really need to be looking at the franchise as a whole. Though I think the first big mistep was letting Abrams nip the new Jedi Order in the bud. Back during the prequels, if nothing else people liked all the different alien Jedi Masters.
What I find interesting is Nerf was one of the things mentioned to have gone down as well. And MLP is interesting, as they still seem to be on FIM rather than having reached the point the new franchise launces. Marvel is still doing Gangbusters because the MCU kinda hit a peak with Infinity War, we'll see how part two does. Wonder if they even need to bother too much with a Captain Marvel line considering how fast after that Avengers 4 is coming.

Hasbro, Inc. (HAS) Q3 2018 Earnings Conference Call Transcript -- The Motley Fool

Transcript for the full meeting is up, as expected the drops really were Toys R Us Inventory related plus hard comparisons to last year's due to Star Wars and Disney Princesses and more.

As far as we are concerned, Transformers actualy saw a raise in US and Canada markets thanks to Bee movie product arriving and selling well off-the-gate at the end of the third Quarter and should continue seeing raises worldwide as the Bee movie product reaches the rest of the world properly. Bee movie and it's merchandise will be arriving later in some markers, particularly in Asia where the Chinese government hasn't decided on a date for the film yet, but it's happening.

Disney. Descendents 2 was last year. So several of the girls line partner brands were up higher than normal last year. It was an extremely hot seller.
