I enjoy the appearance of prototype figures, and have been wanting to make a custom with the appearance of one for a while. Had an extra Grimlock, and being that my wife really likes Grimlock, she asked since i was making it crazy to make it her favorite colors. Happy Wife Happy Life right? Lol... so, i went with the overall layout of a Prototype Grimlock i saw a while back, but swapped some colors per the wifes request. A few rub spots that i didnt pay attention to and that were unavoidable, but its just gonna be sitting on her desk at work anyways so no biggie.

Anyways, here is my take on a Prototype-ish Grimlock. Enjoy :)

Was it the Mrs.' idea to colour the spike purple instead of blue like the rest of the rubberized parts? Paint application is A+. Looks as flawless as a prototype can get.

Your Movie Piranacon looks awesome, but is the headsculpt really just a piece of chewed bubblegum?

So there was actually a mishap with the head spike. The rubber parts on this were a PAIN to repaint. The teeth on the dinoheads gave me A LOT of trouble, almost to the point where i threw the damn thing and was going to stop. The spike was teal, and then for some reason a day after being painted, maybe being a small thin piece, the paint cracked abd flaked off. So i went with the purple because it was a more durable paint ive used on other projects, and to help bring a little more purple to the figure

I also love prototype colours. Especially the ones where they look like tigatron. This is gorgeous! Reminds me of colour coded model files for jointing or plastic types.

Wow. Incredible job on the paint, even on the rubber bits. What kind of paint did you use?

Thank you! I used a wide variety of paints actually. All the rubber parts were based with an acrylic paint, just cheap stuff from walmart. Ive found it does good when needing to soray parts. A light primer on the whole figure, also just walmarts primer. I like it because its thin, in a good way, allowing nice light coats. All the colors are that Rustoleum Double stuff, the paint and primer in one. That stuff is thick so have to be careful. I still use a primer/base with it because i find it peels a it easy if u dont.

With it being thicker paint, i did end up with a little chipping/rubbing in a few areas unfortunately, one of the reasons i havnt taken Dino pics yet. Overall, it serves it purpose tho. IF i was to do another one, id prob take a little longer time with it. I had this complete in 3 days

Not a bad color choice for sure, I just can't not think of Snapdragon when I look at it.

The main point was to make it look crazy and fun, like some prototype figures appear. I guess i got lucky that it ended up having an appearance thats similar to a few other characters.

All in all, glad that it is getting posative feedback :)
