I went to the Retro Video Game convention in Portland, Oregon today. A booth there was selling old monthly manga/anime/tv magazines; among the stacks I found this great two-page spread from 1986!

    IMG_9602.JPG

It seems to be an advertisement for the upcoming movie and some of the toys that would be released in the third season of the cartoon.

The cool/crazy part is that it seems like the advertisement is almost intended to pitch a live action movie. It seems unlikely that it was actually meant to make the reader believe this movie would be live action, but it's really cool to look at.

I love the kid mournfully crying, "Convoy!!!"

I love the moody damaged Convoy model.

    Check it out!

    Wheeljack.

Hard to believe he shelf-warmed at $12.95 and had to have a price drop to $9.88.

Now I have some time over and will try and pick them all together and post a group pic (or two if I cant fit em all)

Is Landcross Micromasters? I've never seen him in person or any comparison pictures. I had a KO of him years ago but I think it was oversized.

Could you get a pic of him next to another earlier g1 or two?

No they're bigger than micromasters. I have the KO, and the Takara reissue... oddly enough I came across the undersized KO a few years ago, but even those were still slightly bigger than micromasters.

Nice thanks! Always wondered about that.

Also I found this guy today for $5 bucks. No gun but a classic.

They arent posable, or even great looking lol but the combination gimmick is kinda cool for back in the day. You take the jet and pop it on top of the tank, push down and they pop up and transform into robot mode automatically. Always thought that was cool.

My first collecting goal is the season one and two autobot cars all in original packaging. Then, the dinobots. After that I’ll hunt down the season one and two deceptions. Maybe once I’m satisfied there I’ll move into season 3. Can’t see myself collecting the bots that came after 86’ though. I have a long way to go..

Also prowl isn’t a ko he’s just missing that sticker while I wait for a reprolabel and a reproduction insert.

This is almost all of my G1 collection. Sorry for not including pics of the backs of the boxes, but that would take some doing. I have a few other pieces not pictured (mostly loose figures) that are in storage because I’ve run out of room. When it comes to Transformers, I mostly just collect G1 and MPs, but I didn’t put the MPs in the pics since they’re not really from the G1 era.
