And here's our star! A new toy in his old form, but not the old form from his new movie! Unless he adopts it at the end or something when he's tired of being various other vehicular artefacts, I dunno. He cost 7 quid in BritGroats from the Entertainer (ta @mcluskyism!), and this is what he looks like in-package: As with Barricade, the back of the packet describes the gimmick you could do if you'd bought a more expensive toy too: Out he comes! A good face-sculpt and some nice detail! He is yellow and black, like some kind of animal, can't think what. Bit hollow, like the mocking laughter of some forgotten god that chuckles nastily to itself in an underground ruin, pretending to be casting dooms upon the worshippers that abandoned it, while secretly knowing it derides only itself. Bee has ball-joints at his shoulders and hips and his knees and toes bend forwards and back. All joints are nice and tight. Shoot, where'd he go? And who parked their car here? Oh, I see...transformation is pretty simple since he's a Legion, but works nicely and the car rolls well. Of course he can be attached to anything with a 5mm post... Comparison with his predecessor. I like both, but I think this new Bee is better! Bees dance to communicate the location of nectar to their hive, right? Warning colours... ...new car is snazzier! I think Hasbro did a nice job with this face-sculpt. Slightly vexed Bee to a tee! If you like this size class, he's a fun little Baychap. Or EISStobot. Pleased to add him to my Legion lineup!
It wouldn't kill them to include a weapon or two either; their hands are molded for 3mm posts! Even re-using the Prime Cyberverse weapons would be fine.
The comparison to the old Bee made me realize how many of the newer Legends don't bother making the robot out of anything. I mean, there were quite a few of the standard "hood to chest, truck to legs" design, but still the torso just being a solid flat block is pretty dull. On the plus side, he's taller than the old one! That's hopefully a good sign for this scale overall. I immediately regretted TLK Megatron once I saw how short he was compared to the RotF/DotM Decepticons, hopefully I won't hit a repeat of that with any of these Speed Series guys.
Definitely a formulaic legion design, but not a bad one either. I'll probably pick it up, but I'll wait for a deal.
Crap - gonna have to be looking for both now. Which makes me mad, bc I gotta have their DLXs too AND maybe WWII BB. Damn you Hasbro & your good marketing!!! EDIT: Let's hear it for self-control. Found both new LGN figures this weekend & passed on them both. I already enjoy SS01 BB & plan to grab SS18 - so I was able to talk myself out of this one. But, man - the sculpt on this one esp made it hard to pass up...
Was their budget so tight that they couldn't afford to put on a passenger side mirror??? Really????? Are they just cheap or stupid????
I bought this figure on clearance today and is it just me or is it a bugger to get into vehicle mode? Everything seems to interfere with everything else. It did finally all close up together in the end, but it sorta just happened during irritated fumbling than me doing anything specific by intention. I must've wrestled with the damn thing for fifteen minutes.
