I don’t have much to say about the Star Trek portion since I’m not a fan of it anyway. However, your paragraph about Star Wars is so full of irony that I’m laughing. If I got a dollar for everytime I saw an older fan say that the “Original Trilogy is better than everything else” and “You’re not a real fan if you like those shitty prequel movies”, I’d be pretty rich. And I like how you say G1 is “getting attacked”, yet you conviently say nothing about how G1 fans have been doing the same with the movies. I’ve seen comments range from “You’re not a real fan if you like those shitty Bay movies” to “Those Bay films are made for the lowest common denominator” for the better part of a decade. But okay.

It sounds like the shit fans of every single transformers line since G1 have had to deal with, starting with Beast Wars and "Trukk not Munky."

I think that in the ad for it in the Transformers The Movie Event the director said it takes place in either 1984 or 1987.

Trademarks have to be renewed on a regular basis I believe. That and defended lest they be invalidated.

Well, there was that one time that Hasbro lost the right to use the name "Bumblebee." :D

"Every Legend has a beginning" If that doesn't scream prequel then I don't know what does :) . I'm not going to see it with any kind of expectation. If it's good, cool. If it's not, oh well.

Partially correct. For most trademarks, they are "renewed" simply through consistent use. Registration is not necessary (and, again, is never required), but can give some extra legal benefits. Hasbro has, historically, chosen to go to the extra trouble of registration on a handful of their trademarks, rather than doing so for every one they own.

And, yes, if someone else tries to use a trademark, you pretty much have to defend it, or you risk losing it.

Not especially relevant. Hasbro hadn't used the name "Bumblebee" in a long time. Hasbro has never not used the word "Transformers" (with the possible exception, at least in the US, of a year or two in the early 90s). That word's been in constant use for many years, unlike "Bumblebee" during that period of time in the early 2000s.

Honestly I understand what you mean. It's felt like it's been kind of running itself thin when there are so many things they could be doing.
Bold read was definitely a downgrade in the charisma that the brand had, compared to the sharp, angular logo that was around 6 years ago.

I don't usually care what package the toys come in as long as the toy is good, but I have to agree with this statement.

In my country we don't have aisles of toys, just small sections because the branded toy market is a niche market here. Having said that, whenever I used to enter a toy store, the Transformers section popped. It was so until 2012 (?). But very recently I visited one and I immediately couldn't find the Transformers section (they usually move the sections around). It occurred to me that the packaging never really popped. It didn't stand out from the crowd as it used to be.

I'm happy to see that Bumblebee movie toys are a good departure. That yellow colored packaging sure stands out.

I'd love to see that. I think the last time we saw something remotely close to old G1 styled packaging for CHUG like that was FoC. It was thiiiiiiiiiiis close.

Ah, the old "if it wasn't for G1" excuse. Listen buddy, G1 was over 30 years ago. Time to move on. If it wasn't for Beast Wars I wouldn't be on this forum. Beast Wars saved this franchise. G1 may have started it, but the first isn't always the best. Nostalgia can only amount to so much. I don't hate it per se, I just didn't enjoy it. The notion that because it started the franchise INSTANTLY excuses it from ANY criticism is stupid. Having seen how great this franchise can be, I expect better then what we are getting now.
Right, in the 80's the simplicity may have been acceptable. But here in 2018 I expect better. We had the small period of between 2006-2012 where we had excellent toys and a really good show. Animated got cancelled which was stupid. The last good show we had was Prime. The last good toyline we had was Generations 2010-2012. Years ago. Meanwhile toy engineering has gone down and the prices continue to go up. All the while we end up with shittier live action movies and to top it off even SHITTIER excuses for toylines. While I still have that small sliver of hope that Hasbro will eventually give us something at least decent, I grow more and more disappointed with each new line. When you can get more playability with Armada toys then you can with Titan returns, I see that as a problem. When PotP gets easily outclassed by Universe (a line comprised of NOTHING but repaints), I see that as a problem. Especially when Voyagers now sit a whopping 30$ price tag (not including tax) and Deluxes are now over the 20$ mark. There's a HUGE issue with that. I'd understand the price point if the engineering required it. But it doesn't. I'm more disappointed than pissed off. To be honest I don't even know why I still get surprised when some chunky hollow deluxe gets released that is either a repaint or "Remold" of a CW figure. I don't even know why I'm still holding out hope.
