This is just some group using the existing IP because they own it and it's still viable. It's nice that some are outraged over former employees losing their jobs, though, but TRU didn't pretend to go bankrupt and close shop, that's still what happened. This news doesn't mean at all that they're just going to open those stores all right back up with a bunch of new employees instead like business as usual, the TRU you knew and (maybe) loved is still gone for good.

 

I still say watch as toy fair announces their first Geoffrey's toy box exclusives.

From the rate toysrus went, I'm afraid it won't last for a year. Just like how target opened in CANADA, but didn't even last a full year.

A Meijer will open in Sheboygan soon. It's under construction right now. I know because I was there a few weeks ago visiting relatives

Mad that if they open one of these stores here, it’s gonna be a good 45 minutes north because every freaking store has been moving up their since they opened the (relatively) new outlet mall.

Back when the bankruptcy news hit, before liquidations hit full speed, there was a group trying to save TRU led by Isaac Larian who was desperately trying to save the stores but ultimately failed. I wonder if he's any part of this now. I'd like to think this is merely a stepping off point with the ultimate goal being opening new stores somewhere down the line. Whatever of TRU we see again, it's not the same old company...that's gone for good. No need for folks to hate on whatever it becomes because of what it was or did in the past. I don't even think this would be happening if not for the gaping hole that the loss of TRU has been to the toy industry.
