Where's D.O.C. and Buster?

 

While I’ve admitted before that I’m not a huge  of Kei Zama’s line work as opposed to Andrew Griffith (which is actually kinda strange since I also preferred Livo Ramondelli no regrets) I’ve actually come to appreciate her work and would be more than happy to see more of it.

 

Surprised Windblade, Ironhide, Chromia, Sandstorm, and Metalhawk didn't make the cover, and odd to see Onyx instead of Shockwave.

They have their own comic... Covers were posted earlier in the week.

On the left near the humans I couldn’t care less about.

 

That last issue was nigh-unreadable with all that human drivel.

 

I know it's not, but doesn't it look like Zone-tan over Jazz's shoulder.

i wish there were no humans on the cover just on the grounds that spike and zilong get to be there. Just fuck those two! i cant belive that those two went this whole series without any sort of comeuppance. any way, its still a nice cover to go along with lost light. hope the unicron comic gets a good final cover.

Make it a poster! 

I might get my poster guy to make this a poster for me. 

 

It sort of feels like a memorial, more than a gathering. OP was always the darker, serious book of the franchise carrying the weight of RiD/TAAO, but in a way this doesn't leave me feeling uplifted compared to the Lost Light covers. This reminds me more about much of an end to this era it is.

There's something about how characters are arranged in their pairings that made up their stories. Starscream and Bumblebee, Jazz and Spike, Cosmos and the Casettes etcs.
I like how Marissa and Thundercracker are paired up (cross species relations? ship. it. besides, they have a dog together.)
DOC and Buster too, are a fun pairing of pets. and Bob... love seeing Sunstreaker holding out Bob as though he's reaching across to Sideswipe (RiP Red Bull...). Aileron and Arcee together is a nice touch too.

 

Why would they show up on the cover for a different comic they are not part of?

 

Still not a fan & not good relationship/pairing and not a good ending for Arcee they wasted her character badly

 

If you go back the entire span of the IDW verse, some characters were either poorly crafted or underused entirely. Look at the Dinobots who spent most of the time inactive, and seperated, otherwise only appearing as a full team in the Autocracy Trilogy and Maximum Dinobots. Still, I don't disagree but giving characters more room to develop as groups outside of their normal ranks was a nice touch of the Post War Era. Familial ties like Tracks and Needlenose compared to that of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe really fleshed out the whole idea of the War, as a Civil War of brothers fighting on both sides because of their differences.

I do agree that Arcee was handled TERRIBLY since her first Spotlight book with the whole "Forced Gender Change" that had so many ways of being retconned coming into Dark Cybertron as she's introduced to more female bots from Caminus. however they stuck to it in OP. She wasn't the den mother character as we knew her in G1, and more of the "Sleepaway Camp" murderer.
