Yeah, man. I've left TF parts sitting in 90% alcohol for like a week to strip paint off of them with zero issue other then the paint being super hard to take off.

Why not the giant purple one-eyed people-eater himself, Shockwave! He looks great, and I find it funny that his armoured look reminds me of Kaiser Sigma from Mega Man X3.

Now onto the other 'cons.

Soundwave: I skipped over his Titans Return toy, was just too big for my taste and he didn't have the right gun, plus the cassette animals looked awful IMO. This one however looks nice, I like the look of the Spy Patrol for him, and I don't mind the blocky dropship mode he has, plus it looks like it'll be easy to fanmode him into a tape recorder considering how blocky his proportions are combined with his apparent poseability.

Megatron: No hurry to get him, his Titans Return version still works just fine for me, I wouldn't mind picking him up for cheap if I get the chance though.

Starscream: Pass, his robot mode looks fine but I was never a fan of the tetra-jet look, and this one doesn't look good to me, too blocky in the proportions and the undercarriage just makes it all the more awkward. I'd rather look for a Galaxy Force/Cybertron Starscream over this one.

Reflector: HELL YEAH! I'm getting him! I'm getting three of him! I've waited and hoped so long for this, nothing's gonna stand in my way!

Brunt: I'm getting him, my LG Trypticon needs his tank drone.

Skytread: My PotP Battletrap needs his buddy, so he's on the to-get list as well.

Micromasters: Not much to say here. The targetmaster guys I'll get if I find the opportunity to also get the Targetmaster Cons from Titans Return, just for completion's sake. The Air Strike Patrol guys has me speculating a bit, so I'll hop over to that thread for those opinions.

All in all, this has been a great reveal, and I can already hear my bank account moaning in pain.

Megatron-...I mean, that's a nice robot mode? I'll keep TR Megs forever-

Starscream-eh. Honestly picking up the POTP Version instead.

Soundwave- I got WFC in the mail recently, so I dunno. I'll definitely buy Ravage and Laserbeak though.

Everyone else- ugh

 

I've always had success with alcohol, but recently I tried leaving my Evasion Optimus Prime's legs in a bin of alcohol overnight, and it was deep enough to cover the feet to get rid of the blue paint on them, and it was very hard to get it out of the crevices (and some areas seemed stained by the paint), plus the plastic seemed to have become more brittle, because transforming it after that cracked one of the feet, which never happened to me before.

It could just be a coincidence, but I'm wary of using so much alcohol now. For basic paint removal, a Q-tip is typically enough.

 

When are Waves 1 and 2 out for the non Japanaese market?

I suspect that Takara's Feb and March releases together form Wave 1.

Perhaps these will come out when Toyfair is out.


In terms of retools, I see the following:

Ironhide mould:
Ratchet and Kup

Chromia mould:
Arcee or Blurr

Soundwave mould:
Blaster and Soundblaster exclusive.

Sideswipe/Red Alert:
Deepcover or Clampdown exclusive.

Prowl:
Smokescreen and Bluestreak?

Starscream:
Thundercracker and Skywarp exclusive.
At least one Rainmaker to pay homage to the first episode.

Ultra Magnus mould:
A Super Mode armored up Optimus Prime like Fire Convoy or Galaxy Convoy.

So about 10 releases from the above to spread out over the next two years.

Other expectations:
Insecticons
Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.
All S1 regular sized autobots: Trailbreaker, Wheeljack, Mirage, Sunstreaker etc. Impactor as hinted.
Probably Inferno and Grapple. Tracks will come last.
Probably more Decepticons but not sourced from the G1 cartoon S1-S3. I would like to see the two battlechargers(Runabout, AKA the grunt from Devastation).


ARGGHHHHH, so, so many good stuff for the next 3-4 years. I will retire from toys by then.

Why does Starscream have the jet alt-mode cockpit in his chest?

 

Because in the first episode of the G1 cartoon when it showed them on Cybertron, all of their robot modes looked the same as on Earth despite turning into Cybertronian vehicles. Most of these take that to heart.

 

G1 character models just were like that, man. The robots looked the same on Earth as they did on Cybertron thanks to that there beautiful animation budget.

 

It's a G1 thing. They all had the same robot modes even with Cybertron alt modes.
Optimus Prime's chest looked like a truck even though he was rebuilt from orion Pax millions of years before Earth trucks were a thing

 

Because he’s based on what he looked like in the beginning of “MTMTEP1”. Although he and the other seekers had their tetra-jet alt-modes they still had the f-15 kibble that they wouldn’t adopt later in the episode. The toy just recreates that look.

 

To look like he did in the cartoon.

That’s the gimmick of the line, cybertronian altmodes with G1 robot modes

 

Brunt formed a tower though, Gasket and Grommet only fit inside Max's feet

 

Lol I love how just one guy asked a simple question and five people just had to answer.

 

And looking at the picture again, it looks like the blaster effects sold with the battle masters will attach to his “hands”. If so totally worth it.
