Almost every suggestion in this thread boils down to "be cheaper than Walmart and never have any shelfwarmers." If only it were that simple. Poor people should buy more money too.

Personally, I hate Amazon. If I can use anything else I will. I'd also rather go to a brick and mortar. I still prefer going to a cashier instead of the machines.

Let it go guys. I was there when TRU destroyed Lionel Playworld in the late 80s and then took out Kay-bee in the late 2000s. All I see is karma. The giant of the toy game finally got gobbled up by a much bigger fish. The internet.

Yeah. I'm gonna boycott TRU, for years they've been a terrible store, with ridiculous prices, and shit business model based on Kay-Bee.

IMHO, they deserve to be shut down .

With all the advances of the cloud and all the easy transactional apps that are in play nowadays, it's not inconceivable that a company that already has a huge cash cache would be able to get their business running really quickly.

Their grand plan all along perhaps? Remember that Twitter banner: "Stay tuned here for news and information on the next chapter for Geoffrey and the iconic Toys R Us brands. #TRUBeContinued"

Yeah, I remember that. But the fact that the intellectual property auction was "cancelled" means the plan to sell it off was the primary plan all along. They only recently changed their mind - probably when hardly any investors showed up to buy it for the cash that they were hoping to get for it.

Unfortunately nothing, different branch of the company. This is exclusively for the US.

Not enthusiastic about this. I knew people that worked at my local TRU for DECADES, and they lost their jobs. The classic stores have been closed & gutted. I won\'t be happy to see Toys R Us in a strip mall run by a bunch of teenagers that couldn\'t get hired at the Apple store.

Probably nothing for a good while. I mean, it's not even going to mean physical stores in the US for quite some time. All that infrastructure has to be rebuilt. That has to happen before any expansion outside can take place.

They'll have to significantly improve their online experience, then. The online store was the worst part of TRU.

One assumes that, if and when an online store is re-created, it will be from scratch, and not simply the old site brought back. After all, all the folks that created the old site aren't working for TRU anymore.

The site was fine from a technical perspective, but the inventory and orders were horribly mismanaged, especially for hot items. It was very similar to the recent G1/Wal-Mart online experience.

IMO, they'd have to go full on KB model with mall/shopping center stores, BUT actually focus on getting product and actively maintaining the flow of that product (not just product that collectors zero in on with regards to these discussions).

Of course, it would also mean that their prices would be much higher, maybe even more than their previous mall outlet stores, and building back consumer/manufacturer trust is an extreme up hill battle now.

Just don't see this going past being a brand name line of random things to be honest.

ETA, large problem with our discussing this is that alot of us look at it from a collector's perspective that would be but a fraction of their getting the brand or store presence online or physical retail back up and running.

Fair enough. The point is, people keep saying things like "I hope that they fix (thing that was wrong before)."

None of what TRU was even exists anymore. ALL they have is the IP! EVERYTHING will be brand new, if and when TRU comes back. None of the old realities will apply.
