A seller on eBay jacked up Grand Galvatronus from $219 to $239 this morning before the 15% promo today. LOL, coincidence? :p

Joke's on them because I decided to buy one from them last night with the 10% eBay bucks promo instead (that also ended last night), because I had a lot of Gift Cards and the 15% promo code could not be combined with the use of gift cards (in the fine print, no idea why, I even called eBay and they confirmed it last night).

I'll add more foil to my tinfoil hat if they lower it back to $219 when the promo is over. :p

Not a coincidence, the promo was announced yesterday, so flippers were ready to apply an increase in price for today.

That doesn’t make sense in all honesty. any discount code applied by eBay, doesn’t detract from the sellers margins. As a seller myself on bay, I know eBay is the one who is eating the difference.

Yeah agree. Unless the seller thinks he can get away with it. People are known to buy things just because they are on sale and not really consider if it's the best price or not.

Yeah that's why they use those LCD display things to show prices. So they can change them easily.

Yes, it is a common practice. And yes, if a buyer thinks they can get away with it (make more profit) because they know a sale is happening, then good for them if they think they that will create create a conversion from a listed item to a sold item.

@HunterGreen2005 's example was interesting to me because I've been watching those Grand Galvatron Prices fluctuate from those Japanese sellers for a least 6 months now. They go up and down from $200 to $240 USD and inbetweeen somewhat erratically.

Next month is an eBay bucks month so they may not do it. They don’t have as many promotions during the Bucks months.

Its usually about every 2-3 months, though at the end of the fiscal year (March) they did three in one month, IIRC. Usually its most of the way through the last month in the quarter (jan/feb/march, april/may/june, july/august/sept, oct/nov/dec)

I'm really surprised there haven't been any seller's sales lately. Seems like they have dried up.
