Based on the photos/clips we've seen of Optimus in BB, does anyone else have any doubt that this is just a chance to capitalize on the success of Commander?

That... and they aren't going to make a new Prime for this movie. I think it's more the latter. Cost cutting to avoid a new mold.

 

we've been told the bb movie toys were finalized mid-2017, so maybe this one was too. i still feel like the g1-ish footage and designs we see in the movie were a last-minute thing and optimus' cameo was planned to be in his original movie body, and that's why we have this takara optimus, all the gimmick ones that use the evasion design, and a few hot rod toys using the tlk design instead of going for a g1-ish hot rod.

 

The latest Figure King confirms that this figure was a TakaraTomy initiated figure.

I’m thinking about canceling my preorder for this and waiting for them to release it in his AOE Evasion colors. The head just doesn’t go well with the G1 color scheme. The face, painted the way it is, looks more Decepticonish without those cheek vent thingys painted silver. I think I’ll just use an extra MP-10 as Bumblebee Movie Optimus for now. But I still want this mold in proper colors.

 

I’ll wait for the inevitable superior Hasbro version.

 

Makes sense, they've been the only ones to use the swiveling battle mask/unmasked head option on their leader movie Primes too(AOE Armor Knight, TLK Calibre/Nemesis).

Probably meant to tie-in with the movie hype but not necessarily be accurate. I think we will see a movie-accurate Prime in voyager scale in the Studio Series line eventually.

I don't know why the picture isn't in the first post since it would help so much with these scale questions, but it is sized so it can pull MP-10's trailer. I think it might be slightly smaller than MP-10 himself, but not much.

 

I don't think so. Price matches up with Takara's TLK leaders so I think it's about the same size.

EXACTLY!! We all know what's coming. Why you ask? Because TT does not miss an opportunity now to release MP or MPM Optimus Primes. I expect an MPM Evasion in junk rust color like the movie, and the 3Ps to take it retool the inevitable complaints and tolerances in the mold, and or parts, and a release in any color you could ever want. So I also expect there to be a BB Movie OP MPM coming in the future too. totally going to buy them too! TT is going to make a mint on their most popular character. Convoy! Optimus Prime. They will always pull him out and milk it. An honestly.. Why not.. I would want that. My wallet wouldn't but the collector in me would. I bet that we will see an MPM Evasion, and when that happens, sorry WJ. I will have to sell mine, as I will defintely get an Ultra Magnus colored version and use that as my Bayformer Magnus, and still buy the original and a 3P repaint. Assuming TT does it in the G1 colors with silver. hopefully.. if not, gray plastic.. If a 3P releases it in the flames like WJ. I will buy that too! see. Damn.. Now ya'll got me wanting an MPM of EVASION and BB Movie Prime!! I still need to buy Ver 3! AHHHHHHH!!! 

 

Trust me I'm in the same boat. I want an "Evolution of Prime" shelf in MP form knowing it'll take years to complete. Right now it is just MP-10 and MPM-4/LT-02 but I know some form of Evasion/Bee movie Prime will be added. UT Challenger would've been there as well but sadly it doesn't scale as cleanly so will wait.

 

Yep, I own those two as well. I foolishly sold my MP01.. But I think if I do an evolution of prime display, I'll most likely use ver.3 Optimus and Lt02 and go from there. My only gripe with LT02 is I wish we could get shoulder replacement parts. Backside yes, but at the least Shoulder armor replacements. Anyhow, I think Challenger was nice, but his design doesn't impress me. I'm kinda looking at waiting to see what comes out. I love AOE so, I really want an MPM of him.
