That could have been dialogue recorded specifically for the trailer. That's a thing they do now. In the actual film Prime might not call him Bumblebee.

Exploded containers of mechanical bits?!?! Lol what are you talking about? Have you not seen the bayformers designs until now or something? Compared to them, the G1 designs are remarkably clean and make it easy to tell who is who. They clearly tried to marry the 2 aesthetics and frankly did a fantastic job. Shockwave is the only one that looks a little odd to me but it's his proportions not his design I have any issue with.

I find them really out of place in the same film as more Movieverse designs like Shatter and Dropkick.

    He's extra THICC

but seriously though ya his thighs are massive.

"Bay Sympathizers"? This fandom I swear ...

I'm pretty sure Optimus had a detachable faceplate in the IDWverse too.

I'm pretty sure at this point this movie is a reboot in all but name.

The Bay designs look like abstract statues made out of mechanical bits. These look like they tried to contain them, but they burst at the seams. Them being "cleaner" is exactly what I was referring to and I offhandedly referenced they being "married" designs. These designs are of half hearted compromises. They want to marry the designs, but clearly aren't willing to diverge too much from the same repetitive look. As a result, we have slabs of metal with mechanical bits awkwardly poking out. No, I don't think they did a fantastic job.

I might be setting myself up for disappointment, but after this trailer I'm really looking forward to seeing Bumblebee in theater. Haven't bothered to watch a TF movie on the big screen since Dark of The Moon.

Just wanna get this out of the way so I can gush about the stuff I love.

Movie, Bay movies, continuity, blah blah, AoE and TLK the only good movies, etc.

FUCK. The transformations...awesome...I'm in love with the goddamn designs. THIS is what you get when you actually try to incorporate more vehicle parts into your robots instead of having them piles of alien tubes and metal. It's a goddamn shame if we don't get SS figures of Shatter and Dropkick's car modes. While I certainly appreciate the Cobra gunship that we're getting from Dropkick, I'd prefer a pair of super sexy muscle cars, myself.

Look, for all the haters of the G1 designs. Lemme ask you. Like the old formula was working well for you, huh? AoE and TLK represented a huge downward spiral that Paramount, wary of their movies doing death spirals, decided to change course to try to stop the spiral and maybe even trend upwards again. Since nostalgia is a huge thing right now perhaps doing a movie in the 80s, doing G1 reskins, and doing a soft reboot might change things. This is what happened to GI Joe Retaliation. Rise of Cobra bombed harder than the Axis bombing campaign that started the Battle of Stalingrad, and so it became more like GI Joe, with more of the classic GI Joe look. While unfortunately Retaliation didn't do so hot either, I'd make the argument that it's a hell of a lot better of a GI Joe movie than Rise of Cobra ever was.

Let's just see where this movie goes at the end. If the BB movie doesn't work I'm sure you movie fans will get your piles of junk, alien tubes, and play slime robots for the next movie. If you even get one.

Dare I hope? Dare I dream? These new trailers suggest I am close to fulfilling one of my oldest dreams, from the early 90s when I first watched the cartoons on tape. I never thought I would happen, but maybe, just maybe it's about to... I finally get to see a Live action Transformers movie on the Big Screen! I've waited for this my whole life!

I hope we have some great toys from this movie.
Since it does not have that humanoid transformation.

So he was called B127 before being named Bumblebee! Interesting.

Wow, it only took 11 years to give fans the robot designs we wanted.

BTW, if they make a toy of Movie Cybertron Optimus Prime, I will buy the shit out of it.

THIS. IS. WHAT. THEY. ALL. SHOULD. HAVE. BEEN. LIKE.

THIS is the aesthetic I WANTED when they said they'd be doing a CGI live action movie. THIS is the difference between a director who DISLIKES and DOESN'T GET the franchise and one who LOVES AND UNDERSTANDS it.

If you think the G1 style robots are a poor fit for the established Bayverse... oh well. I can deal with a reboot. Which Bayverse CHARACTER does anyone actually give a shit about?

Overall, this looks like it will be really good. But it seems like the designs of the bots on earth are going one direction and the bots on Cybertron are going another. The former are more reminiscent of the first trilogy, and the latter of...WfC? Like, they really need to figure out where this is going. Shockwave, Soundwave, etc. look nothing like their previous on-screen iterations. I'm sure that pleases many of the Geewunners, but it displeases me as a fan of the first trilogy designs and as someone who appreciates consistency.

Like, if we want to do a reboot, just go full reboot, don't stop in the middle ground.

I mean, has it been said time and time again that this movie is a soft reboot? If no one believed that, sure, I get it being a diehard myself, but aren't the Cybertron scenes proof enough that we're getting a soft reboot here? This would be like having the most powerful proof you could have that "1+1=2" and still denying it flat out.

Technically Shatter and Dropkick aren't wrong. Obviously they fail to stop Bumblebee, and he summons an army to Earth.

I want to say, I love how the movie Seeker design has an obvious waist screwhole on the crotch. Only thing missing is a giant Phillips head.

I get that, but why bother with the "soft" reboot in the first place? Like, is it taking place in the same continuity or not? Make up your mind.
