Just stopping in to gush about this guy again. I love him in my display case. There's just something about the bigger bots that is just so satisfying. Kinda makes me wish Takara had stuck with mp01 scale and made all the subsequent figures scaled to him. Of course then Magnus and the Dinobots would've been even bigger and more expensive so maybe I'm glad they didn't. Plus my display is getting pretty damn crowded as it is.

 

Yeah. He wants back in but they're all pretending not to hear him knocking in hopes that he'll eventually give up and go away.

 

Is the area where the symbol molded in, or can you pop it out like on the oversize OP?

Yeah, it's NE-01 but he's pretty shelf stable. MP-01 behind him is the one who's in danger of falling. I need to get some museum wax.

 

Until I’ve found a way to cram this guy in with my ’84 bots, I’ve put him on a shelf with my Gigapower Dinobots… and I have to say, he looks pretty splendid amongst them, standing head-to-head.

This got me thinking… I have no idea if they should be the same size. It works for my sensibilities, as they’re some of the biggest Autobots (excluding combiners and citybots), but if I had the the FansToys dinobots, then MP UM would be bigger and that seems wrong. I can see him being a shade smaller than the Dinobots, but not bigger.

I don’t know where I’ve got this impression from, as I don’t recall them ever being on the same panel of the comic together or on-screen in the cartoon… at least not with the Dinobots in ‘bot mode. Though, I haven’t seen that much of the cartoon past the movie, (‘cause quite frankly, it’s awful) so I may be wrong.

Anyone know if they’re supposed to scale together?

Where’s your display case from? Looks similar to the ikea ones, but double wide.

 

Those are IKEA ones and it's just two pushed together making it look like one big unit. I have 4 all jammed together. I have 8 in total.... lol

 

Close. It's two Ikea detolfs but I cut the ends off and bracketed them together so it's one big case. You can fit more figures across a double wide shelf than you can on two side by side shelves. Given how crowded it's gotten and that there will eventually be two more combiners to squeeze in, I've been looking into bigger cases but they're so expensive

Received mine this morning and I have to say I'm impressed.

It's a hell of a figure for £62 shipped from China. A good quality KO overall, but if you can afford it I'd say grab the real Masterpiece figure and an upgrade kit. The knocked off Ultimetal rifle is a nice addition which needs a new paint job, the Spike and Daniel figures were always shite but they look worse with the crappy paint job of the KO set. The improved shoulders, bigger gun and extra faces are cool additions though and this is great if you're on a tight budget.


Pros:
-The quality of the plastic used is pretty decent. I have no doubt the real deal is better, but this ain't bad at all.

-Paint apps are decent too, if a touch sloppy in places. Again, the real Takara MP will of course be better but this suits me just fine.

-Joints are great. Good ratchets in the hips mean the big bugger can do some solid posing. The shoulders swing out a little easier than they should, but it's certainly not a major issue. The wrist ball joints are a bit loose, but I'll tighten them with a bit of polish when I swap the stock hands for a pair of KFC hands.


Cons:
-The whole figure was dirty/grubby all over and needed a good wipe with a cloth.

-The decent enough paint job on Magnus notwithstanding, the paint apps on the Spike and Daniel figures are shitty. The figures themselves are crap anyway, Takara could've went for something better in the Human Alliance style.

 

Should've come with Junkions to put him back together.

 

Did yours come with a matrix then, given this is clearly the post-encounter with Galvatron version?  

 

Ooh cool, is that the 3d printed armor for mp10 that was... oh. Oh dear. Hm. Yeah, maybe don't use that seller again  

 

After you opened the box, did Galvatron fly off with the Matrix?
