Because quality of writing, narrative, storytelling, and characters don't matter to TF fans. They pretend they do, see other people talk about them and parrot their sentiments to try and sound less shallow, but they don't actually. It goes over their heads, and they quite literally wouldn't know a good story if it slapped them in the face.

No, TF fans overall can only really appreciate Transformers on the most surface level possible. They just want to see their toys running around, and if it doesn't exactly match their personal idea, they throw a tantrum.

As for snokoan, I was actually referring to the part where he said “they still bitch about it”. Should’ve been more obvious about it in my reply.

 

Can't lie, those G1 designs got my attention. Just hoping they look waaaay less video gamey in the actual movie than they do here. Looks like scenes taken from a War for Cybertron clip.

Still, interested to see more. A lot more interested.

 

Whether one likes the G1 designs or not, I don't see how a maximum of a few minutes with Soundwave, Prime, Ravage, and perhaps others on Cybertron is going to make or break this movie. If anything, it's the depiction of Steinfeld's character, Bee, Shatter, Dropkick, Blitzwing, and any human characters for the rest of the movie that will determine what this movie will be like.

I will say I liked this teaser for the trailer more than any previous footage.

Personally, I'm more interested in Shatter and Dropkick, because they're new Decepticons whose designs fit right in live action, who aren't overly spiky or insectoid, and they're colorful, so hopefully they have some personalities to match.

 

The scenes from the first teaser trailer where nice, but I admit that I'm starting to look much more forward to the movie because of the "casual" scenes. Like Bumblebee on the beach, sliding down the slope, on the couch. The scene in the forest with Optimus's hologram and that part transformation in the tunel also looked great. Maybe not visually, but definitely were fun to see  

 

No, the G1 designs won't make or break the movie of course but they do give a hint to the direction this franchise will take in the future. The fact that they even considered to throw in the G1 designs is a pretty big deal.

Plus, if that Cybertron prequel is still happening, we now know the type of designs we're getting.

 

What would please me is doing things that make sense

 

They booked the trailer premier. It will come as a Live video if I'm correct  

 

My only worry about this footage is that I hope they haven't shown too much before the actual trailer hits. All of this seems like money shots (which is 100% fine), so they'd better have something mind-blowing for the full trailer tomorrow! I honestly thought Optimus would be the big money shot.

A couple more random thoughts...

1. It's neat how many transformations we've seen so far in the footage. We've seen two for Bee, one for Blitzwing, and one for Ravage. That's four transformations in less than four minutes. That's not even counting the 'half transformations', which we've seen two of (one in the teaser and one in this last clip). Contrast that to TLK, which had no transformations until the or third or fourth piece of footage.

2. Bumblebee's blaster kind of looks like a cross between his WW2 missile launcher and his standard arm cannon. I guess it's an intermediate form, which makes sense for the time period. I love this little detail so much.

And I'm really looking forward to Shatter and Dropkick too! I hope we see more of them in the full trailer than just those glimpses we've already seen. I would love to see that transformation sequence from aircraft to car.

 

That is a huge and negative generalisation. Story and characterisation have always been my priority. It's why as a child I preferred the much better written UK comics to the G1 cartoon which had some good episodes but Season 2 in particular to me was silly with things like Kremzeek, Lord Chumley, Orion Pax and Lord Chumley.

The silliness of the human villains in Animated really detracted from my enjoyment of the show which is a pity because they characterised the Transformers themselves very well.

 

doesnt matter, is this a reboot or not? That's the question? If it's a reboot than why don't they just say so? No, they keep saying its in the same universe as Bayformers and that it's a prequel to Bays movies. The G1 looks on cyberteon 100% go against everything seen or explained in Bays movies. 5-minutes or not, they are making it all the more confusing if it is indeed still in the same universe. That's what those of us that have an issue with this are talking about. Soundwaves Cybertronian form was shown in ROTF and yet here it's completely different and G1. Same with Ravage. So how do they explain that if it's the same universe? And OPs G1 look while kick ass as a G1 look, is a step backward from his TF1-3 look that we got in the Bayformers universe.

There is no way they can say this is the same universe by doing this.

 

I didn't actually watch the teaser because I want to watch the whole trailer in one go (I've only seen the screen cap of Soundwave) but what if the Cybertron parts look cartoony because that's the style Travis is purposefully going for, just for the flashback scenes? Remember that he's used to working on animated movies, and that sort of thing happens a lot in those.

What I'm getting at is, maybe don't overreact over something we've seen only a few seconds of? Maybe?

 

This would heavily excite me if it wasnt for the fact that they're still sticking with this being a prequel. Are you serious? They "get it right" after the absolute most shitty film in the franchise and they make a prequel that looks like this. I'm not saying this is bad for the movie itself, but for the "Bay continuity" this feels like THE BIGGEST "FUCK YOU" to bayformer/G1 fans alike. This also goes toward people, like me, who appreciate continuity. Like, all I can think is "this looks awesome but what the hell?"

Talk about damage control. The only way this works for me is that they announce that this is no longer a prequel but a reboot.

It's almost like continuity was never actually something the film makers gave a shit about. Imagine that.
