Yes, definitely. He’s not quite mp-36 difficult is say he is about as hard as Maketoys downbeat if you have that figure?

Don't have downbeat, but I am familiar with his transformation. I don't think he'll be too complex.

MP-39 is more complex in my book. Downbeat to me is easier and more intuitive than Sunsurge.

Sunsurge has more steps to hide the whole chest and compress his backpack. He moves in a specific order but they are pretty easy/intuitive after a few times going back and forth.

Sunsurge looks perfect with MP-12 and they both fit the hybrid real/toon look. I’m also selling both for $112 shipped (I prefer the heavier cartoon look and keeping Steamroll & Sunstreaker).

I am not buying takara's Sunstreaker. So I'll buy sunsurge. But I got my eyes on takara's cardon.

I caved and bought the official Sunstreaker but I really liked Sunsurge while he was with me. I don't think his transformation was nearly as bad as some thought. I can't blame you on wanting that Cardon though,he does look killer

The reasons I am buying sunsurge is because it's cheaper and I feel he looks better. The reasons I am buy cordon is for an excuse to own the Sunstreaker mold and I like his white coloring.

Doubt we'll get it sense takara has their own cordon. And people are looking at Sunstreaker not sunsurge.

Sunsurge's duck feet and overly square shoulders really stand out nowadays with the sleek looking Takara version. The articulation on the official blows Badcube away too.

Cheaper? Absolutely. Better? Not even close.

Well you could put out a commission in the Creative Marketplace forum for someone to make you a police Sunsurge. That might be your only option. I'm holding out hope BC will release a Deep Cover repaint of their recent lambos.

I personally feel like Sunsurge fits the aesthetic for the official Takara Sideswipe better than the official Sunstreaker. I went to the official because I did like the way they did the toon and real car look. But I think the police deco on Cordon looks bad pass. I got rid of all my Diaclone stuff but Cordon is bought just based on looks.

If you want a cartoon look for the robot mode, MP-39 is it. That said, MP-39 seems to be more fragile. The mirrors are known to break off, for example. Getting things to line up in car mode can sometimes be a pain as well. Face sculpt is underwhelming for MP-39. Otherwise a good release.

Sunsurge looks better to me in car mode and compliments MP-12 Sideswipe better as well in car mode. Robot mode is somewhat cartoon based, but looks better to me if you want him to go with MP-12 in bot modes. Sunsurge has more details, too. Sunsurge is my MP representation of Sunstreaker even though I have MP-39.

Takara might release an MP-39+ down the road given the fact that their upcoming Cordon repaint has the G1 toy head sculpt and detailed shins and missile for the hand. MP-39 doesn't have the missile, but Sunsurge does. If that is a thing. Sunsurge has extra parts that are silver if you don't want the chrome.

But you have to say Surge looks better with MP-12 than MP-39 no?

Doubt it'll happen, as people have been asking for it for ages now from Badcube, but hopefully they'll do a Deep Cover at least...

Yeah I can't dispute that. But that also says more about mp12 and his chest being way too wide. Which compliments Sunsurge's quirks I guess.

It's ridiculous that Steamroll suits Takara Sunstreaker better whilst Sunsurge suits Takara Sideswipe lol

I wouldnt say ridiculous. They both fit their time and the choice of design 'era'. Its a result of shifts in the in style more so than any intention me thinks.

You're right ridiculous isn't the right word, and the bigger picture we all get a set of brothers that we should be happy with, even those that wanna mix and match styles.

Sunsurge is really cheap at the moment. I say pick it up if you are unable to buy the much more expensive Sunstreaker who is by no means a bad figure. Sunsurge is a great alternative.
