Into the Spiderverse is not going to be a big hit, in my opinion.

 

i swear when i saw the title, i thought it said they were predicting the film would only make 240.00 USD and thought "well that is severally harsh"

 

That seems reasonable to me.

Imdb has the budget set at 128mil. 240mil domestic would be fine as long as global can place a cherry on top. Need to remember that the marketing alone is probably around 40 to 50mil itself.

 

Into The Spiderverse looks amazing, but it might be the factor that will decide on low number of cinema-goers. Animations that do not adhere to Pixar/Dinsey look tend not to do well at BO. See Teen Titans, My Little Pony or Kubo and Two Strings. In this case familiarity/expectations with cinematic animated movie might win over creativity. ITS leans more toward direct-to-video special than the full cinema experience. I think that I also heard that it isn't a wide release.

 

The opening numbers wouldn't the sort of numbers to cause Paramount to throw a huge party, but if the full run domestic numbers work out and the overseas numbers work out it would be enough for Paramount to be able to tout it as a success. Not only do we have the lower production budget this time around but unless Paramount just goes overboard with advertising near the end then it doesn't seem like they are really sinking that much into marketing the movie this time around either.

Of course the numbers that no one really knows is the numbers it will take for Paramount to decide what to do with Transformers next.

 

Spider-Man comes out on the same week so I think lower. But we are now in a generation where if your movie is good people will see it.

 

Why would you say that? It's gonna be good, and help Sony redeem themselves after that Mess that shall not speak it's name.

 

Because it has a very limited target market.

 

I admit, I'm willing to give Bumblebee a chance. Which is more than I can say for the last three movies. After RoTF, I wrote of the Transformers movies as hopeless garbage, but the trailer looks intriguing and it's got like a half ET-half Herbie thing going, and I really liked the last movie the director made. Like the plot for Kubo and the Two Strings was weak, but it was gorgeous to look at and had a ton of heart.

 

Animated, about superheroes. Incredibles 2 did insanely well at the box office this year with the combination of animation and superheroes in a movie that could be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Now I'm not saying that Sony is going to be all Pixar on the film, but if it's a solidly entertaining movie then it could ride the superhero train pretty hard. Plus even with the missteps along the way Spider Man is still one of the most popular super heroes.

I don't think it will be like Teen Titans Go to the Movies because Spider Man Into the Spider-verse doesn't look like any Spider Man cartoon currently on. The problem Teen Titans Go to the Movies hit seems to be the same one the Simpsons Movie hit when it came out.

 

Let's not forget that Pixar is a beloved brand name and people have been clamoring for an Incredibles sequel for 14 years. Neither of which are applicable to the Spider-Man animated movie.

 

That's funny, because most of box-office originates from the international audience. And people think, that it will support the film again. But I can see, that Bumblebee is purely Americans-oriented. Firstly, the filming was strictly inside US. No international actors. Secondly, there is no any 80s nostalgia outside US andmaybe western Europe. Thirdly, there are no or very little G1 fans outside America and Japan, most of international viewers know TFs only as big, spectacular Michael Bay's Movies! In Russia TFs considered more as adult Movie, than children-based, I saw only 3-5 children younger, than 15 in the theaters (~450 seats) during my watchings. Also there is notorious ban for the advertisment of Hollywood movies in China. I can see NUMEROUS people, praising Aquaman in social networks (english- and russian-speaking), while Bumblebee hashtag even wasn't seen as popular.

 

Uhh, the Bumblebee trailer was quite popular when it was first released. It was pretty high on the YouTube trending page.

 

Doesn't mean he was wrong.

 

Of course A dollar made at the box office in the US is worth twice as much as a dollar made in China to the studio. It's also a much cheaper movie than The Last Knight. If it does TLK global numbers with 240 million in the US, it would be a major hit.

 

80s Nostalgia is in Canada and other countries as well.

 

I'm sorry but after Spider Man PS4 ehhhhh yea more people are going to want to see Miles

 

i think some board members can make a better movie than tlk, but $240 mill for bee movie might not be so unrealistic
