It's a LOT more than just that. It's about her never truly being accepted in Yautja society, having to go above and beyond just to get recognized and her disenfranchisement with humanity.

Isabelle was very rad. I was even impressed with Adrian Brody and Topher Grace in Predators, and I'm not generally a fan of either of them...

I've liked Olivia since her AOTS/G4 days, but she is a terrible actress, and really shouldn't be in anything beyond TV comedies...

I'm surprised that they didn't try doing an adaptation of that instead , sounds thousand times better than what we got in this

Off topic: I feel like I'm the only person I know who likes Topher Grace and thinks he can be a great actor when given the chance. I feel like he has a Dennis Quaid syndrome: good actor but in a lot of shite movies, and when he IS in good ones, no one sees them. Poor bugger.

    Anyway.

I thought she was surprisingly okay (I didn't say good) in The Newsroom, but yeah, I've had a hard time accepting her as anything more than eye candy since jumping from a "geek" talk show thing to being an actress that typically just plays Generic Hot Chick X or Y.

Yeah, maybe I haven't seen enough of him in movies -- when I have seen him, it's shit like Spider-Man 3. But again, he was great in Predators -- he really sold that creepy character.

I never saw the Newsroom, but I can see her doing a serviceable job there, but now that's she's popping up in big-spectacle action movies, she just seems so severely out of her league. I actually just remembered she was a Daily Show corespondent for a short time, and I don't think she did that well there either...

Read the book "Prey". It's what AvP should have been. Apparently there was a script for it, but something happened that the author walked away. Can't remember the full details, but it was a shame it never made it to the big screen. Thousand times better than that AvP dumpster fire.

So you're telling me.... that these super technologically advanced aliens that hunt humans for sport and collected spines and skulls as trophies.... have been using spinal fluid to biologically upgrade themselves all this time?

And now they're hunting a kid to get his spinal fluid to makes themselves stronger because he's autistic?

Did Shane Black just have the Predator weaponize autism?

I'm a guy who kinda likes everything from this franchise except for Alien 4 and AVPR, so just know I am VERY forgiving with these movies.

    I kinda liked it ngl

It wasn't a masterpiece (or even objectively good) by any means, but I genuinely laughed while watching it. It was dumb and profane, but kinda what I needed to just take a moment and have fun for a couple hours. The callbacks to the other movies was also fun, if not random.

Also, I'll be honest. The Predator Iron Man is kickass and I want a figure of that thing ASAP.

Basically, I liked it because it looked like what I'd like to be able to do with the already over the top and screwed up mechanics of AvP Classic :p

I agree about the callbacks. Especially in the beginning. I liked them as well. That was one of the few bright spots in this otherwise cluster of a movie.

Even if a little unnecessary, it's still just fun to know what they're talking about and go "hey!"

But but, the cast said it was a good movie, and fake lips Munn praised it!
I knew this was a hot mess when Shane Black was director, who the fuck cares if he was in the original, this guy made that god awful IM3.

I am so fucking puzzled at how it seems impossible to do a decent Predator / Aliens movie? It’s not like they are books or comics and you have to translate it to film. They’re movie characters, inherently cool horror / sci-fi monsters. They don’t need upgrades, they don’t need new origins or motivations, they need good protagonists and a little something called suspense.

Just saw it, not mind blowing, but I found it an enjoyable ensemble film that does have nice nods to the first 2 films in the series and tries to create the group camraderie of the original. Definitely has Shane Black's style with the humor, but I found it better than Iron Man 3 and somewhat more in style to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I didn't find Munn too bad here, but the writing is funky. Does help expand the universe. Unsure how people will feel about the ending. I somewhat have mixed feelings.

I'd love to see some older Dark Horse stuff translated.

Aliens vs Predator: Deadliest of Species would make an AWESOME set of movies.

Yeah I read the comics it would be cool. I mean doing a Predator movie shouldn’t be hard because it’s originally a cinematic character not a comic character you’d have trouble translating to film.... like say Watchmen.
