I wish MMC would've squeezed that retool from Jaegertron.

Hasbro's blatant pretool of Overlord(which is pretty lousy itself) is such a terrible representation of Black Shadow.

 

No please. This mold is a POS. For the price we are paying, Black Shadow should be a new fresh mold.

 

While I've not had much fun with this mold, if they stopped and fixed its many tabbing/tacking/pegging issues, it would be a solid MMC product. I wish they had taken some time to fix it's leprosy before they decided to build 3 figures out of it. That being said, I agree that it could be a good Black Shadow.

 

Weren't the mold issues fixed with Boreas?

Silhouette alone and a large wingpack backpack just cement the image for me of Black Shadow from this. I also like that this is a different size from both Hexatron and Carnifex, and the idea that each Phase Sixer is a terror for each major size class: Voyager, Leader, Combiner.

 

Hi, necroing the thread for a couple of questions, since I haven't seen them answered anywhere and I'm considering getting this:

* Is this a Cassy Sark design or was someone else responsible for this one?

* Is there any way to use the long gatling gun as a hand-held, hand-replacement or arm-mounted weapon, or is it purely for the gunhead mode?

* Is there any easy way to remove the two folding pieces from the front of the jet mode? Screws are fine, would prefer not to have to remove pins. I was thinking it might reduce the back kibble and still allow for a decent looking spacecraft.

 

Yeah cassy did him. Nah the gun is for his head n alt mode only. The prongs are held on with simple friction hinges but the way the front of the jet is constructed you'll have to remove all of the screws underneath the main backpack section to dislodge them. And you'll be left with some large gaps where they once were but structurally I don't think they're integral to the main piece.

 

Finally got this guy. Pretty dazzling.

So a few weeks ago, I got this bad boy and I finally finished taking pics of him. It took me about 6 days to do everything because he has so many heads and hands and I wanted to get everything in numerous poses. He's good, but I expected a lot better. His articulation isn't as good as other MMC figures and since his head is on a unique joint and his shoulders are really high up, there were a bunch of poses I didn't get. But from now on, he is my go to Lockdown. Recommended if you like the character. Oh, and don't get the Cyclonus remold. Just doesn't work as Cyclonus enough for me.

 

This was the mold where the Reformatted line started to show cracks, figuratively speaking. Still pretty good, but definitely a bump in the road, particularly with the gloss finish issues.

 

Actually, it was MMC Reformatted Cynicus that started the lower quality / cracks. still , a figure i love.

Then followed this one, and probably the only reformated with ugly gloss finish that doesnt match the rest of the line at all... will never get any!!!

That said, i dont think there is any others in the line, right? More like Ocular Max that has alot of bad ones, but reformated is mostly success in finish / built.

 

"Figuratively speaking" means not literal cracks. I think this dropped before people's Cynicuses started crumbling, but I could be wrong. "Cracks showing" is an expression of where imperfections start to become apparent.
The other issues in this line that started happening more often after Jaegertron were some molds with really bad basic articulation, vague molds designed from the beginning for remold purposes rather than fully representing the main character, and then a few where the alternate use of the mold got more/better paint and detail highlights than the character most people cared about.

 

even MMC at its worst is still good. Lockdown could've been a better figure if the shoulders didnt inhibit movement and the head was on a more traditional joint. Where I give Megatron and Tarn A's, Lockdown is a B-.

 

I've actually been tempted by this mold recently, but can't bring myself to get it because of how much I still love the ROTF deluxe figure. I know MMC's doing a car-based line, I'd love to see them do a 2.0 of that design with some better articulation and materials.

 

My biggest hope for OxUnlimited is precisely that we revisit Lockdown with a very nice original car design taking more ques from the actual animated character.

 

I think the feature that's most necessary for me in a Lockdown design is for him to go from a relatively small car into a tall, lanky robot. This version just didn't capture the character's proportions in a way that worked for me, but I do like the head sculpts. Both the original Animated figure and the ROTF deluxe are almost as tall as Kultur, I'd love to see a new Lockdown that spreads out from an MP sized car into a thin bot that's in the neighborhood of 10-12" tall.

 

I won't own another Lockdown (love my Animated version) until some company gives me this...

I mean make a more detailed, IDW G1 accurate version of him and I'm down, I actually prefer this guy to Animated Lockdown. I mean AOE Lockdown was neat (gunface for the win) but as someone else, heck, with the mask he'd make a good vehicon, he just wasn't... Lockdown. This is lockdown.
