Ok... I wondered if it could be done, so I had to. Actually, it turned out better than expected. Every combiner piece, both original and TDW, as well as every weapon from both, including bonuses from pre-order... I even found a spot for Slash...

 

Just got my kit today. Sanded all the pegs immediately. Way better in hand than anticipated. Only gripe is Swoops missles won't peg in at all. Little bummed about that .

 

sand? Also anyone know if rotating the legs make it possible for sludge to be added? Like the tail pointing back?

 

Seems like the preferred option is to add this to have enough clearance

My 4-armed Volcanicus Berserker mode; I'll probably give him WeiJiang's M-01 Commander's axe for that last hand later. All TDW guns and swords present, with some PE parts and Slash included.

How that works:

TDW back piece, CW port halves of the PE Grimlock upgrade plugged into the 5mm holes, PE crotch piece plugged into center with Slash grabbing onto both 5mm pegs of the crotch piece.



Not pictured, but you can totally attach the PE gold chest pieces onto TDW backpiece via the slots.

 

Holy Shiva! Nicely done btw. The pieces from the PE kit are a nice touch. I tried doing something similar, but instead I was attempting to create a Heavy Arms doubling gatling gun with the PE feet and the crotch piece as the front, the back piece as the center, and the little piece to act as a counter-balance, all for it to have been a double chain gun/shield combo for the left arm (Slag preferably) or as a badass backpack. It didn't hold though and fell apart. Still, you've got the right idea.

 

I can't decide between this kit and the PE one...

Fan fiction: When Comera is in close proximity, Volcanicus can generate "Raptor Spikes." They can detach, and attack the enemy....

 

Sand, yeah. The pegs are a tad bit too large and if forced can cause the ports to crack. So I (inspired by others) sanded down the pegs a wee bit to make them a good fit.

If you look at my pic Sludge is indeed a leg. I just rotate the tail towards the inner thigh. You can tweak it to preference though.

 

I finally put the shoulders in the TDW configuration, holy beefiness! ROAR! Kill Decepticons!

 

If you can, get both and mix, match and modify to get your perfect Volcanicus.

 

Love what TDW does for the lower body but, chest aside, prefer PE for the arms and back.

My biggest problem with the official figure when combined was the wonky shoulders, this Looks better proportioned to me.

 

New Challenge: Get every part {besides those the PE set replace on Grimlock} from the stock combiner and both upgrade kits + Slash onto the body of the Combinber! Bonus points if you include Shapeways parts for Volcanicus.

 

If anyone is interested in selling the smaller swords that come with the TDW-06 sets, please let me know.

I just got my TDW set in last night so I've not had a chance to fully 'take in' everything Dinobot-related but I think I could let the 3 solid-black freebie extra swords go without noticing the loss due to all the other weapons they have from the PE set and the IF Asura Knights. Is it just those 3 swords you're interested in and do you mind them unpainted?

 

Exercise does a body good! Time to tear up some 'Cons.
