Yeah Thundercats and Michael Bay are not a combination you want to hear. Although given Mattel’s sudden interest in reviving the TCs Classics line I wonder if there isn’t something going on here..... something terrible.

Somewhere some hideously evil being truly hates Thunder Cats and wants to watch it burn. :(

I honestly can’t think of a worse director for this property. If they said Wes Anderson or Tim Burton I would be happier than Bay.

It’s really quite simple Hollywood, get Andy Serkis on this project ASAP.

Is Bay Directing? Or Producing? Because there is a huge difference.

Ryan Reynolds might actually be a fairly decent fit for a Thundercat role. Like maybe Tigra. I don't think Lion O is a good fit, or Panthro. Although, part of me wants him to play the thundertwins. CGI'd. :lol

If it's only a rumor, there's not much point in saying anything till it's confirmed.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing Bay's adaptation of Thundercats.

Seriously speaking, I really like the Animation Studio who handled cool looking cartoons back then.
    TOEI drawn it right?

(contemplates throwback and looking at cartoons now) :lol

According to wiki, it is animated by Rankin/Bass Productions, 4Licensing Corporation (AKA 4kids), Topcraft, and Pacific Animation Corporation. The latter being the two Japanese studios. And, don't forget WB and LJN.

While I agree that that it was the age of great cartoons, but it wasn't the golden age of cartoons. The golden age of cartoons, was the 20s-50s. lol

And, I'm fairly certain it was the all day cartoon channels, on demand services, + internet services, that killed that age. Not sports. Sports replaced it, but did not kill it. (Oh, and Toonami + Adult Swim also helped kill it.) Why make new cartoons, when we can just port over and dub Japanese ones for cheap, and sell loads of toys that way!? Pretty sure that is what happened.

It'll never happen, especially after this new cartoon kills off what's left of the younger fan base. Whatever happened to that new cartoon anyway? Did Cartoon Network bury it?

It got one trailer and everyone lost their shit because it wasn't like the boring Thundercats reboot from 2011 that no one watched and killed the franchise for 7 years until the new cartoon.
And then every single person that got angry over the trailer died of anger and that's why no one talks about it.

Reynolds is fine. He's a better actor than he gets credit for because he tends to take tons of goofy roles. People seem to assume a goofy part must be a poor actor. But he's fine in the few serious roles he's had. And I wouldn't hate seeing Thundercats with someone in a lead role that can be serious with the odd fun moment thrown in.

Bay, on the other hand, in my opinion, has had his hands on enough eighties revival projects. Let someone else in. Perhaps someone that knows how to build character driven scenes?

The 2011 series got killed for being in a Friday night death slot and then taking a huge break between episodes. Not to mention that it banked way too hard on toys in a time where kids don't buy plastic. But that new show is hot garbage on its own merits. You don't have to compare it to anything.
