Got my set opened and put together. A bit of a chore but worth the end result. I was expecting the extra black volcanicus sword but was also pleasantly surprised with extra black small swords. Main issue is I can't get the swoop missles to peg into the wings.
Also, which dinos are the guns and swords meant to go to?

for those with PE and TDW, which feet are more stable in that there is less wobble on the ankles? i feel my tdw one wobbles too much still here and there and might tip over.

Initially my TDW feets were wobbly too. I find taking it all apart and putting it back together again helped even if out and stabilize the feet. Make sure you tab in the gun securely together then tab the gun into the feet securely. The toe gold part and the side black feet past should be more even.

Having recently gotten and installed the PE set, I was surprised by how much of a struggle it was to swap out Grimlock's new parts. Especially the thighs, jeez! Overall I'm very happy with it. I have the same complaint with this set that I have with all the PE sets, though -- the feet(/cannons) are a little too big. They coulda made the feet like 25% smaller. Oh well. Also, for this set, I hate the PE hands -- like many here, I may buy the TDW set too, because those hands are awesome. Even if in gun mode they seem a little bit odd.

20180903_132226.jpg 20180903_132333.jpg I like rotating the thigh pieces forward instead of on the sides. You can still have forward thigh movement as long as the PC-23 cod piece isn't pegged into the Grimlock thighs.

Does your Volcanicus have improved balancing when facing those thighs forward with the TCW thigh add-ons? I'm curious if that is making a dramatic improvement in preventing it from falling forward.

With the thigh pieces forward on mine, it seems to be more stable. You still have to work with balancing some though (again, for thigh movement, you have to unpeg the PC-23 Grimlock thighs). Most of the problem is loose ankle swivels on the feet that tend to like to pitch Volcanicus forward. The sword can be tricky to get into action poses due to weak elbows.

It'd be nice, if the base figure were re-engineered larger with more plastic, and stronger joints, but this is what we have.

Can we get some size comparisons between him and some third party figures? Mostly the Dinobots rivals Devastator and Predaking

Unfortunately, I don't have Devastator, or Predaking handy. (Hercules is in storage, and I'd love to pick up Feral Rex at some point...) Can anybody else fulfill this request?

Best I can provide. Yes this is the PE kit and not DW's but there's plenty of size comparisons between those so as to give you a good idea, here's Volcanicus alongside Uniquetoys' Warlord/CHUG-scale Predaking 20180904_051230.jpg

The New Transform Dream Wave (TDW) TCW-06 for Power of the Prime "Volcanicus!"
This upgrade kit make the worst authentic combiner figure to THE BEST combiner in the collection! Never thought this kit needed to transform into weapons for the individual robot mode becaues it already included an entire arsenal of 14 weapons (see previous post). For those who consider this upgrade set, sanding each of the connector pegs and polish them down with silicone oil is highly recommended for a nice finishing appearance. TDW received the triple E-Rating of Extraordinary Engineer of Excellence!

I'm using it, but I took my time to get it to fit properly.

Also, watching Emgo's video, I learned something I didn't know. When fitting on the upper backplate, that peg inside needs to be flipped *up*. That makes it fit snugly and aligns the shoulder pegs right. Takes stress off the plastic I've heard people talk about.

Size comparison with Nero Rex. Rex is still much bulkier, but the fight looks a little more fair now. IMG_20180905_134548.jpg
