Has anyone found a purpose for the small rectangular tabs under the wingtip?

Those circular nubs plug into his knee joint in robot mode to help solidify the leg. You can sand both down quite a bit before they stop locking in allowing the legs to sit closer in jet mode.

I posted this in the POTP thread:
    -----------------------------------------------
I do believe the slightest bit of gunmetal paint to darken his face makes a biiiiiiiig difference. I was having trouble seeing "Starscream" with such a light silver face.
Just purchased some Shapeways upgrades and this pile of turd is on it's way to being a decent figure!!!!

...I simply took a super thin Tamiya paint brush and put a thin layer of gunmetal on it.

Real shame that this guy is the only G1-ish styled, Voyager Starscream out there. I would've bought three of these dudes if he was a completely different toy. I've seen this dude discounted to 10 bucks on Amazon a few weeks back, actually.

Also, seriously, am I imagining things or are there just no G1-looking voyager sized Starscreams at all...

I would have gotten this if Hasbro/Takara had done a recolor of Aerialbots Skydive as Thundercracker and Skywarp for arms, Air Raid as Ramjet and Dirge for legs, and Powerglide(Viper) as Thrust for his Gun.

I really think Lord Starscream would have used the Enigma of Combination on his fellow Seekers to make himself the Lord of Combiners if he could have.

Yeah I couldn't agree more...I think the crown head is so nerdy, although I understand why they did it, to reference the movie, and Starscream's personality, and I do think it's fun. Regardless, it's just too nerdy for me.

So I’m trying to build a combiner out of this guy, gold lagoon starscream, dreadwind and blackwing, and a ko Blast off.

Is there something I’m missing about pushing the small head into the robot for combiner mode? Because I do not feel like mine wants to go in.

If its build like how Elita is, it just requires a bit more force than other parts to push it in. The tab that is meant to hold the head up is just the tiniest bit too long.

just thinking about it... this is one of the few start screams that did not spread into a batch of bastic repaints...

the ghost/gold starscream mold would probably be the closest Scream got to repaints for POTP... and technically neither are POTP, one is Unite Warriors and the other is holden lagoon.

Which is a shame, as repainting that mold and headsculpt for the seekers would be the perfect limbs for this bot. I’m working with goldscream, blackwing, waiting on dreadwind to arrive, and a knockoff of blast-off that for my purposes is now named “Knock-Off”
