Is joecon still happening every year or is it no more since the fss line is done? Sorry I'm a newbie.
So I've decided modern Joe's are not for me as they feel too flimsy and do not hold their weapons very well...I did pick up a 2000 blue Hiss tank which I love and plan on buying some 80's Cobra troopers to drive it. That being said the two modern versions I did buy were 50th Cobra Viper & ROC Scrap Iron...PM me if anyone is interested in them I'll sell them both together for $20 shipped in the US. Is there any chance we'll get 6" Joes in the future like what Hasbro did with the Star Wars black series?
oh wow! So no more 25th exclusives anymore? There's still ddcc for more vintage carded figures right? Why is joecon being discontinued?
Not from the club, no Black Series Joes have been strongly hinted since 2013 or so, it'll probably become a reality by the time the next movie comes out. Hasbro is very gunshy launching GI Joe toys without a movie. While I don't think they should be, they've thought otherwise since the late 2000's.
Who is this? I wonder if we will ever get a vintage style carded figure of this? maybe a sdcc 25th style card art. I would love to add her to my collection! sorry newbie going back in to gi Joe after 10-15 years off.
Is Snake Eyes back from the dead yet? IMO ARAH should've stopped in IDW right after the first few issues. Once they tied up the loose ends from the Marvel run they could've ended it right there. Oddly enough, their Street Fighter VS GI Joe book was actually decent. Also as much as I loathed the SF Joes back in the day, looking back some are actually decent. Same with the Mortal Kombat Joes. Sometimes I think the old style o-ring figures could be brought back just with ball jointed waists instead of o-rings. Maybe modernized sculpting. Everything else the same(3.75" scale, backpack holes the same diameter so the vintage backpacks could be used...).
Actually there are two Snake-Eyes currently. Sean Collins (son of CG Wade Collins from the original marvel run) joined the joe team and got blown up stopping reanimated Serpentor (IIRC) following original SE's death. That left him scarred and mute, and he basically took up the SE mantle... and things continued almost as if nothing happened. Fans of early 2000's figures and Devils Due comics will also know Sean as Kamakura, but Hama had nothing to do with that figure/codename and chose to completely ignore it. So Sean is the male SE who's running around in a suit reminiscent of the v1 commando outfit. And then teenage asian female Dawn Moreno got zapped by the brainwave scanner and implanted with original/dead SE's memories (lingering in the scanner from way back in Marvel ARAH#10 circa 1983), complete with ninja abilities, and so she's a little schizo when the old SE asserts himself. She wears a costume more like a modernized version of the v2 ninja deco with slatted visor. She also goes by Snake-Eyes. It's all very confusing and makes me long for the first 80 issues of the marvel ARAH run where ninjas were only 25% of the plot, not 85%. I don't mind SE per se, but much like Wolverine, he's better when he's part of a team doing something interesting... not when he's solo, and flip-flopping between painful navel-gazing and mindlessly slicing up goons. But then again, I like joe for the military side of things, and the ninjas were never the major draw to the property. They were fine as an occasional plot point, but I really zone out when the book is just ninja-tastic all the time.
I had a dream that I found Mortal Kombat Joes in a store and a couple years later they actually made them. Was pretty funny. To me the Street Fighter Joes were bomb. Loved those things at the time.
From my understanding, Hasbro is moving in a different direction with GI Joe and/or it's conventions, so they decided not to renew the GI Joe Club's licensing after this year. So 2018 Joecon was the last Joecon with the GI Joe Club (which as of the end of this year is also defunct). Similar to Botcon, or more specifically, the Transformers now falling under the banner of Hascon, I imagine that Hasbro will have something for GI Joe via Hascon next year (but that's just my hypothesis and I have not heard of any confirmation of such).
Thanks for all the great info on the story and name of the female snake eyes. I really hope we get a vintage style card of her at sdcc in the future since jokecon is now no more.
Let me know how that turns out. Need to know if it's worth sacrificing my Rogers for. That guy takes mad long to make stuff though, right?
Yeah.... he clearly doesn’t know how impulsive and easily distracted I am. You get like a crazy confirm email that gives you a Batch # and says what batch he is working on.... I figured whatever I can’t change it hopefully it comes before I retire.
Fwoosh's Articulated Icons has a 25% discount on all their figures this weekend, so I finally ordered their Not-Snake-Eyes figure. I'm debating whether or not to order their white Deluxe Ninja, as I'd need to also buy the Arms/Hands/Wraps Pack in order to pull off a Not-Storm Shadow.
Lookin at those...I’m surprised Hasbro never made The Hand Marvel Legends... that is an easy troop builder.
