So now that I can see past piles of sheets of glass and statues scattered around, I’m really starting to hone in on decor.

I’m planning a trip to ikea, definitely for some fake green plants to stick in the dead corner. Possibly some led light strips for big boy case (to be mounted externally). Mayyyybe a shelf. I do need another puck case. I do think I’ll hang my silver age comics around the “I want to believe” poster. I am going to tfcon probably.... at this point some original Alex Milne piece seems like my target there. I’m not sure if Alex would have pages for sale, I’m not sure how his production process works.


I feel like the large reservoir dog poster I had in my freshman dorm room would look great above and behind the new case.

Cool part about having your own room is being able to hang shit on the walls however I want. No matter how stupid it is. I need 1 more case for symmetry

 

We Stopped by ikea today. Originally I didn’t plan on installing lights in the new case. I really didn’t want to drill any access holes into the case. I’d already broke it once why tempt fate. Then I had a idea that was so devious and simple I couldn’t not try it. I do dig these multicolor lights. I considered other options while in the store, but considering my install plan and comfort level with the product I let the thought pass. The way the display case is made I can’t hide wires in it. Also the multi shelf system would render up and down lighting ineffective. So I’m just trying to dust some flavor into the case not light it up like Broadway. Can’t decide which color to set it on. Usually I keep it on fade in other cases with the multi color.

Thank you. It was painful, but I love the case. My wife was actually just praising it when we turned the corner of the light section at ikea and she knew where I was headed. (later over dinner she also complimented my wall hangings "i dont like all that stuff on its own but it all looks good on one wall together") The website had nicer display cases with more framing for more money, but this one checked all my boxes of things I was looking for at a decent price. The fragility of it really smacked me in the face while cleaning up about 20lbs of broken glass I’ll admit. It is a glass cube with no support. I was loading the alt mode shelf and I noticed the glass bow a like a shelf does and I became concerned again. The manufacturer says the shelf’s can hold 30lbs. The alt mode shelf has around 12lbs on it.


Red and purple is a statement. Also updated for potted plant (found in wife’s stash unused)

 

I absolutely love the glass cases and how you display these.

 

Left the blinds open and went away. It’s starting to get dark early, so when we came home it was pretty dark. From the road I saw my collection room glowing in sweet red and purple. I gotta keep those blind down at night I’m just inviting burglars. Bout to have a smash and grab

 

I wasn’t physically feeling well last night. So I went downstairs and slept in my collection room. It now feels like my collection might be a tax write off for homeopathic healing. Chilling in there bathed in lit cases in 100% aura healing for me.

Also updated picture of my grey case with my new sh figuarts collection and statues. Long term I think the legends stuff might be moving back into the kids room. I’m more interested in the figuarts and flame toys then legend scale right now. I’m getting my idw fix in chug slowly. Only problem with bumping the legends is that is Nero Rex become homeless. To talk to fit it the cube case. Out of scale for the Mp in the detolfs. He’s going to end up just chilling somewhere

Nero actually ended up fitting just barely on the bottom of the cube case with my other variants. So that’s cool. My sh figuarts collection not only ended up booting the legends but also the statues from the lighted grey case and the storage under the cube. Next week I’m headed to tfcon so I should have some original artwork to fill out the wall spaces.


I’ve also been throwing away boxes. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture from before the purge started. I found one from 2 years ago and its not a good representation of the monster i had saved in my basement. Lord only knows what the people doing work on my house thought seeing this all in my basement. But here is what’s left of my box collection and what is still on the porch moving out and in the bed of my truck waiting to head to the dumpster at work monday. The wood cabinets in the picture frame are full of boxes and contents of boxes ive discarded. it’s a hard thing to take a picture of. For context, before I started throwing boxes away I had a box for everything in my collection. I’m still saving all Takara and fanstoys boxes. Combiner team’s contents are compressed into the core members box. I threw away all ko boxes. I’m compressing figures from the same lines boxes contents into my favorite box of that line. Some boxes are more aesthetically pleasing or if I remember buying the figure at tfcon im still saving those. Updated picture of symmetrical comics display















truth be told its Saturday and ive been drinking which has placed me in a reflective mood concering the pending winter and the stuff in my basement. I have nothing of consequence i need to do today so ive been messing with all aspects of my "collection" all day. its strange. At times I time i feel disgusted with myself, other times i feel pretty pretty, pretty damn pleased with myself.

what i have observed today is how much space my non displayed marvel and star wars 3.75 and 6 inch figure stuff and tf box collection occupy. i cant get rid of the 3.75 stuff. i definitely dont really have displaying it in the plans either. all the 3.75 is are toys i bought me 2 sons. I cant get rid of them but they are taking up space. I have piles of the unpictured broken Star Wars vehicles. what do?

just the multi color ikea diaorder strips... the installation is the fun part..... i just put the double sided tape that comes with them on the lights, then taped the lights onto the wall directly behind the case. because the case sits so close to the wall you cant tell the lisghts are actually mounted on the wall behind the case, not on the glass inside the case. then of course the wires all hid nicely because of the solid base to the case

 

Working my tfcon haul into my stuff and I’m feeling a little gloteness over the monster I’ve created. I love the shit. It’s not hurting me finiancialy. But it’s getting to be a bit much.


Some of this stuff is my kids and are moving out.

 

Hung my page. Love it! Makes my other stuff look like crap. Might reposition everything on the wall if I get bored

 

Update

Sh figuarts collection has blossomed. Swapped the tree and the statue shelf. Mp Tf collection has complete season 1 and 2. Idw chugs combined onto 1 shelf. Alt mode display has real estate has grown along with my sense of pleasure I’m getting from that display area. I had some chugs in the alt mode display. They where clearly inferior and removed to a bag in the box area.
