Oh man. Mine has arrived but I won’t be able to pick it up until Thursday, which is the same day Repugnus gets here!

 

Got mine today, and it looks like just in time, too. Amazon now shows him as “currently unavailable.” Anyway, I swapped the arms for the UW configuration. I was pleasantly surprised to find ankle tilts and the (partsforming) option to give him a backfin like the G1 cartoon.

 

Is this the shoulder swap? No one was posting pictures so I tried swapping the shoulders only leaving the arms on their correct side.

 

Yeah, you have little choice but to swap the arms. Otherwise when turning to a gestalt arm (which is where most people will leave him anyway) those protrusions at the tops of the shoulders will prevent you from folding the elbows all the way in, and getting them to lie flush. Either that, or you rotate the upper arm swivel so that they are facing the other way, but that means they interfere with the gestalt arm rotation because the poke outward the same direction as the combiner peg.

 

If anyone is interested I got a second Blast Off and painted him into his G2 colors, since I have G2 Bruticus. NO Bruticus images, but here he is next to the G1 space shuttle Blast Off and the first Combiner Wars G2 fighter jet Blast Off, which I have renamed Take Off. What do you think?

 

I switch the arms just at the elbows. I love the fin on the back look!

I'm loving this guy so far. He is prime master compatible as long as you borrow from another figure. I couldn't decide which chest I liked better so I got 2. The barrel chest will spend most of his time as an arm. While I like the look of the bulky chest, I'd prefer to have the purple detail that is on the uw version so that the decepticon logo pops.

 

He’s now available at retail here in Taiwan (at 合川héchuān, aka 大明dàmíng), but I’m still not sure if I’ll pick it up. I have the UW one, and like both versions. Do I want to demote the UW version? Do I want to spend NT$1100 to do it? (CAD$47; USD$36; AUD$49; EUR$31)

 

Honestly, he's better than the UW version. Holds together better (possibly too tight) and he's toy color accurate. No special mods required, just swap the arms at the ball joints and you're Takara/toon accurate.

 

Did this guy ever make it to retail in North America?...do we still have a chance?
