Is it just me or does Arcee look high as hell on deathsticks or something

Incorporating M'ress into the next Trek movie would make me forgive Abrams for EVERY other misstep in that reboot.

 

Why not? This isn't a serious crossover it's just a bit of silly fun, idw can throw whoever they want in from both franchises, it's not like this matters.

I forgot IDW has the publishing license for Magic.

I'm sorry, I'm picturing Optimus Prime as Murphy, Ratchet as Quinn and Prowl as Sparks right now.

 

It all depends on how you establish the parameters. As much as it's "just fun", a crossover between two established continuities automatically merits some guidelines as far as content. Say they did a cartoon crossover between G.I.Joe and Super Friends Superpowers show, having Terry McGinnis show up would be odd to say the least, OR to have any other DC character that didn't appear until well after that series AND in a totally different medium. It'd be a piss poor fit, and tear the spirit of the crossover all to hell. THAT is my point, for better or worse.

 

Except super friends had female super heroes and transformers had people with ties and desks saying “do not put female characters in this! It’s a boys toy line and we don’t want them in there!” There is a difference. The writer of the movie had to fight to create arcee and had to use his daughter as an example who liked watching the cartoon and the toys and even then they were still not wanting to do it. And you can’t use the epsiode that premiered Elita One and female autobots because the movie was in production before that epsiode. It was movie fights for arcee that helped make that epsiode.

Regardless super friends and using a white teenage male as Batman isn’t something you can compare.

 

First off, Windblade's gender isn't the issue. Very nice attempt to try and turn it into that.

Did you notice that not a SINGLE person bitched about Arcee on there? In fact, one poster at the very least mentioned throwing EVERY female Autobot that appeared in G1 in there. The issue is Windblade's forcefeeding to the franchise as a whole. If Counselor Troi would have been on that cover, it'd be the same principle.

 

But her gender is part of it. She’s on the cover because shes now one of the main faces of transformers and she’s a female transformer. That’s the aim that we are at now. They want a bigger female audience and that’s what Windblade and Arcee are. It’s not chromia, Elita One and the others. They’re gettig there, but they’re not their yet. Arcee and Windblade are.


You can bitch all you want about being forced to look at Windblade all you want but the fans create her and that makes her different

 

Fucking thank you! I don’t have a problem with Windblade being force fed but it’s at least true.

 

And where back to some people complaining about Winblade again.

 

Just leave Windblade alone! She didn’t do anything! It’s hasbro’s fault that she’s everywhere. She’s still a cute Japanese plane girl who loves peace and is gonna change the world!

 

I'm aware of M'ress and her origins, but it doesn't change the fact that she's not from the actual TOS and that a feline furry alien on board the Enterprise will always seem really out of place to me, Filmation cartoon canon or no. Just overall a very oddball addition.

From a creative standpoint, though, I think Windblade was chosen because she stands out just as much when placed on the Transformers side, and she is the only female Autobot who is distinctively different enough from the rest of the cast to do so.

 

Yeah, but he's still a canon character and he's from a different time rather than there all the time like Windblade is in IDW, she's just another Caminen. The only way she doesn't fit is with the aesthetic with this G1 toon designss, which purely the look, not the characterization or lore. There's nothing to stop them having her in it, because, at least as far I've seen, this isn't any previous universe. PLus with Primus being Vector Sigma now, there's nothing stopping them from retconning Windblade into the background of the G1 toon as the unseen sunbow Grand Architect or something.

Okay, so let's look at the list of Sunbow G1 females that could have been on that cover:

Chromia
Moonracer
Firestar
Greenlight
Lancer
Lifeline (Paradron medic)
Glyph

Those are just the ones with documented appearances on the cartoon. So the crux of the issue isn't gender politics, it's the choice of character. You all nonchalantly breezed past my Counselor Troi comment as it's the most direct parallel to the issue here. As much of a fan as I am of Airrazor, I'd be just as up in arms if she was in this series.

If you're going to be critiquing people's writing abilities, it might be good to write proper sentences in the process.  

Or were you making an ironic comment about lazy teaching?

 

How is that sentence improper? The commas all correspond with natural pauses or pauses in idea, inflection, and segue, so I'm baffled as far as where you see incorrect grammatical structure? Oh, I could have italicized "this" immediately after the last comma, but it was not necessary to do so. It would simply be preference to illustrate emphasis.

 

It's a BADASS picture for sure.
