The devy status makes no sense. Its not available for shipping to your home but it can be be "shipped" to the store for pickup. Is walmart trying to save money by putting them on their regular store delivery trucks instead of individual UPS/Fedex shipments?

 

They probably also hope you will buy more stuff when you go to the store.

 

My Hot Rods just came in the mail today. I ordered 2 and both of them have creases on the top of the box, like they were crushed or something.
Also, they were packaged backwards, with the hood of the car pointed towards the artwork. It looks ridiculous, has this been mentioned before? Is this a mistake or are they all like this?
I haven't opened mine yet but just looking through the package, the figure looks kinda cheap, with a matte finish on the hood instead of the glossy red like it used to be. The box quality also feels kinda cheap, a matte cardboard instead of the semi gloss that I remember seeing, but I don't have my vintage box so I can't compare. Rub signs on both don't look like they work properly, showing a constant red autobot symbol instead of turning black.

I don't know if I'm gonna open them so these are just my initial impressions.

 

Mine is also facing that same way so guessing they changed it from the stock photos.

The rub signs might be red because of the heat when it was still in the delivery truck. Give them a few hours to cool inside and they should return to normal. At least mine did.

 

I just got my Hot Rod, and it is facing the wrong way in the package also. I was planning to open it anyways, so no big deal for me. Sucks for anyone planning to keep it MISB, though.

 

Picked up my Hot Rod from the New Hartford, NY Walmart today. Packaged backwards like others, rub sign turned black after sitting in the AC of my car.

 

As I said Walmart has no idea what they were in for when they took these exclusives on.

 

My Hot Rod came in today, but I didn't get a chance to go get it before the pickup kiosk closed. But mine is getting opened right away, so the backwards packaging doesn't bother me.

 

Hotrod is packaged backwards in most of the stock/promo shots I seen.

 

Sorry to hear about all the problems with the Hot Rod figure and packaging. I got the notice that mine was at Wal-Mart for pick up but I won’t be able to get it until later this morning. I hope I don’t run into the same issues. I don’t care too much if it is inside the box, facing the wrong direction (although that is annoying), but I will be really disappointed if it’s creased badly. I know that Wal-Mart is a huge company, responsible for shipping tons of different things, but if you market something as a collectible toy, complete with a collectible toy price point, you should take the extra responsibility to ensure that it ships without damage to the box. If that means shipping it with an extra box, inside the shipping box, then so be it. At least that’s my opinion.

 

If it helps relieve any stress, my two were packed superbly, perfect crisp boxes so a case of YMMV. Sorry to all those who got a bad one.

Oh and the feet? Sure die cast . And the faction rubsign ? Only red right now due to the heat. Placed mine 30 seconds in the freezer, went black.

 

All I know is that I am excited to go grab mine this morning and finally get him in hand!

Just got 2 Hot Rod and 2 Starscream.  

As I always say, just play the waiting game.

I'm still in the game, since I need to buy all the minibots. Not really interested in Devastator because I own several Encore versions.

 

Well, just picked up my Hot Rod from Wal-Mart. It has a couple small creases. I would say it’s not bad enough to be unacceptable to me, but others might disagree. Also, same thing with the toy facing the wrong direction in the box. I’m not overly bothered by that. My best guess is that all of this first run are like that. Hopefully future figures will arrive in a little better shape.

 

Running change maybe?

 

just ordered Hot Rod and Screamer - should have by next Monday
