It's about "significant other" (on this board, often a girlfriend or wife) of a collector, and how well the couple addresses the collector's hobby. Come on, bro -- you can handle posts longer than two lines.

There's a certain unfairness about the collector brain. For example, my wife calls Liokaiser "Hodge Podge."

On the other hand I can identify the brands and styles of purses that she likes, up to and including minor details like logo variants, strap lengths and sizes, decorative accouterments and texture choices.

On the other hand, I forget the date of every social event we have planned, so round and round we go.

this is what ive chose to comment on after.....months of hiatus?!?!

anyway collecting things that are widely considered children's toys dont necessarily fit into most of our society's stereotypes. Your significant other however should understand and respect your needs and if your inner circle of friends mock your hobby id re evaluate your friendships.

my wife was always supported about it but she understood why I enjoyed them, perhaps thats the difference? i enjoy the transformation and always want to figure it out without the instructions so my appreciation comes from a engineering stand point. Dont get my wrong im still a TFNERD as a whole but there is more depth to it besides that alone. doesnt hurt that the inlaws dont mind it either.

probably not a popular sentiment but my gf is helping me whittle down my collection and overall possessions, and live more frugally. i dont know a lot of gf's that would be supportive of 'hey, im gonna spend less money, including on you'.

Mine's fully supportive of it, mainly because it's the only thing I sometimes blow extra money on. She's even asked for a list of the MP's I need and has gotten me a few of them so far for things like X-Mas, birthday, etc.

It seems that my funny, light-hearted, reply to your last message was removed. Heck, I even joked that your shade of blue was more offensive than mine! Weeeeeee! I'm so fun!

Isn't it adorable how a simple response to someone on this board (void of the kind of vile, immature nonsense, or insult is scrubbed out of existence, and yet, if someone posts something riddled with aggressive or reactive negativity to the effect of "man that toy is gross, it looks like shit, I f____ing hate it, you're stupid for liking it" its allowed to remain- because its considered just sharing an opinion? You probably haven't given that concept quite as much examination as my color choice- I invite you do so. After all you're smart!

If you take a moment, you will see the new likes/friendly replies I've received on my more recent posts, as not everyone subscribes to this rule of blue text having a intrinsically nefarious use- no paranoia, no selfish reactive poofy little keyboard warriors, a slamming their chunky digits into a reply thinking they've rooted out a troll. Just casual adults sharing ideas, and not being offended by my words. Those people I like. :)

So I offer up this to you- as you see my blue text as intentional 'trolling' and trying to hurt or irritate others. That is the same stance of all the angry, reactive users raged and chose to block me over my blue text- the same people that would see probably see my aforementioned quote from someone spewing bile over toys and give it a thumbs up or no further thought. If you want to talk openly, and with respect about what is 'acceptable normal culture' on this board and question peoples intent- perhaps you should broaden the scope of your purview there Perceptor! :p

Your very signature, offers some incite into your thoughts on the TF community- and if I could be bothered to analyze it and ask you some pointed questions- maybe we would discover that you're a wonderful complex person who truly enjoys discussing toys online and doesn't fly into a ragenado when he sees a little cobalt- or maybe you're just a #bluehater to which I'd have to chuckle and say later.

Looking forward to a mature and reasonable reply from you, though it would appear you've already blocked me- bluuuuuuuuedorable. ;)

Um... I don't want to make you feel like a jerk, but a lot of people aren't good at detecting written sarcasm, sometimes because they are somewhere on the autism spectrum. The blue helps everyone get the context of the joke in case they struggle with such things.

While I sometimes enjoy offering up a clever retort, or a few words to cause a little pause or reflection, I assure you, nothing anyone says to me online can make me feel anything- especially on a toy forum.

I cannot be responsible for anyone's negative reaction or overreaction, or perceptions of a text color. I will remain true, to myself.

I was really amused when watching one of the videos from Skullfest. One of BSF's friends had left his wedding ring at the hotel where he was staying. The ring consisted of linked Autobot and Decepticon symbols. He tried to describe the ring to the hotel manager as having "hieroglyphics" on it.

Whenever I’m feeling the look. I point out 2 things.

    1. I have a very well paying highly stressful job. If I use this as a stress crutch so what. Leave me the fuck alone if I want to buy a 80-200$ something. I’m more disturbed by the amount of money we blow on food and general trash she buys. I offer to go through the checking account and have a reconciliation and full audit of spending. Always shuts her down

    2. I point out I know I’m not normal. If she wants me normal fine, I can try to be normal.....but man that seems boring

    "What kind of hieroglyphics, sir?"
    "Er, well. Cyberglyphics."
"Ah. I see. And on what planet did the little moon men sell you this cyberglyphics ring, Mr. Weirdo?"

I was ready to sell my collection in 2004. I was "an adult" and wanted to out the money to a nice car and/or spring break. Then I met my wife and we were engaged not long after dating.

She convinced me to hold onto the collection, because I might have kids someday. Then she saw me oogling the energon scramble city combiners at the store and got them for me as a xmas gift (a modern superion, devastator, and bruticus - an amazing before the days of 3P making everything you could want).

She wishes she didnt lol. I went back into collector mode and tried to get all the figures I missed for the 8 months or whatever I stopped collecting.

14 years later or so, I still collect. She's ok with it in the sense that she isnt interested at all in it and will get mad if too many things come at once/within a few weeks.....but lets me continue without argument or issue. I earn 3/4 of the family income and work a FT and a PT job (Full-time middle school teacher and part time direct service provider for the mentally impaired)......So she doesnt mind.
