I knew it! Lost Light and Unicron crossover!
We have the location of Primus, and we happen to have a body he could inhabit. All he needs to do is hop on over to Cybertron and the finale can begin!

Woo! Tyrest and GA/Pharma fighting? that's...

Oh wait, 22 has a Senior cover with Rodimus an Megatron in a fight (or possibly screaming match) that didn't appear in the comic itself. Never mind. :)

Two of the biggest IDW dickheads clashing out to try and get rid of one problem when in the end they’ll get rid of them all.

But are they fighting as Adaptus & Solumos or more likely Pharma & Tyrest?

I'm up to date with LL (love it) but haven't read anything past Unicron #0 or OP #18, so which one of those should I read first?

Read through OP first. Get right to 21 then do Unicron 0-3, then OP 22.

Nice cover. It could mean nothing thought, after what we learned in the last issue. That or there will be twist. :p

Great Geoff Senior art aside, this is quite a school example of why IDW needs to reboot this thing...
It is the end times for this comic, and what is on the cover? "Unicron is here!"... and two original characters, created by the comic writer duke it out. Not even people who are casual transformers fans would know who these two characters are. Frankly, a lot of TF fans in my country don't read the comics - just watch the cartoons/movies and collect toys - and they would be scratching their heads about just who all these two are and what all this has to do with Unicron, who is here, yet not on the cover, like he was an afterthought?

I am reminded of the nineties and the Rob Liefeld era, where instead of recognizable characters, we had variations of "weird muscled guy with lots of cybernetic kibble" on pretty much every cover. No wonder DC had to kill and resurrect Superman (and break Batman's back) to get people back again. And while people would say "this is like TF Marvel US/UK", well, the difference is, these characters don't even have toys, unlike back then where they used new and newer characters because Hasbro mandated them. Funny, but I kinda wish we were back in those times and Hasbro had tighter control over these comics. Hasbro really needs to rein IDW in - I spoke to a lot of fans for whom the whole interconnected GI Joe/Action Man/Visionaries/etc multiverse killed the comic for, because they did not "sign up" for this, they wanted to read about transformers. And Hasbro gained nothing from these crossovers either, it is not like Rom or Microman has a booming toyline. Apart from a few HasCon exclusives done to promote the crossovers, nothing happened since then, and the Joe toyline is still as dead as a doorknob.

To be more precise, OP #22 first half(up to page 13) takes place before Unicron #0, and it’s second half after #0(page 14 onward).

This rant is exceptionally silly considering MTMTE/LL has never in anyway interacted with the rest of the Hasbroverse at all and has had nothing to do with it.

Not to mention that any MTMTE reader, y'know the people buying the comic, would know who these 2 characters are as they have been around for years and in fact were around when the comic was at its most popular, so the claim that having them on the cover would what, hurt sales? Is super bizarre.

I tend to agree with BB Shockwave. Look at his points as though you were a casual Transformers fan who happened into a comic book shop while on vacation and decided to maybe pick up a comic book or two. You've probably heard of Unicron, but don't know what Lost Light is, and may even have missed the entire book because you were looking for a large "Transformers" logo on the front cover.

Sure, people like us on this board own every issue going back to -ation and think this cover is awesome. I love Tyrest and Pharma, and I dig Geoff Senior's style. But I can also see why the books aren't selling well to casual fans. It wouldn't surprise me if sales are worse for TF books anytime "TransFormers" is not bold and visible at the top of the cover. They need to market to casual fans to be a financial success, and casual fans probably don't know what "Lost Light" is anymore than casual G.I. Joe fans would have noticed "Scarlett's Strike Force." IDW doesn't need to market too extensively to die-hard fans like us because we'll continue to buy, but having <7,000 of those fans isn't making them enough profit.

Your argument ("Not to mention that any MTMTE reader, y'know the people buying the comic, would know who these 2 characters are") basically says that the only group of people you expect to buy new issues of MTMTE/LL are the people who already own the prior issues. For a myriad of reasons that group has not been getting bigger even though MTMTE got a bunch of critical praise and won awards.
