sorry guys, but i respectfully disagree. i've purchased literally hundreds of TF orders over the past few years, most of them from sellers in China, and have been largely satisfied with the vast majority of my purchases. so no, it's not difficult to please people in this fandom at all.

it's quite simple really: i order a TF product online (brand new, preferably MISB, as i rarely buy used), seller sends me the product as described, i'm happy. it's not rocket science. for those of us who like to buy products that are guaranteed to be brand new, then MISB (mint in SEALED box) is strongly preferred. because Iron Factory has never sealed their boxes before, they were one of the few exceptions that we had to deal with - but now that there is an option for true MISB taped boxes, this is vastly preferred! expecting a brand new item to be taped is not "catering" at all - it's the industry norm.

just because you guys don't care if a box is taped or not, by yellow tape or white tape, doesn't mean that others don't. please understand that there are many different kinds of collectors out there - some want sealed boxes, some don't care, some don't even want the boxes (hz401 is good for those buyers), etc. but everybody is different, and it's important to realize that. wanting boxes to be sealed, by tape which is not offensively ugly, is not being petty at all. again, it is the industry norm => pretty much every single MISB figure i've ever bought from Hasbro, Takara, DX9, Unique Toys, Mech Planet, Mech Fans Toys, Master Made, MakeToys, FansProject, JinBao, KuBianBao, Wei Jiang, etc. etc. etc. (ie - ALL of them) have come SEALED in CLEAR tape...!

...in reality, returning something to china is prohibitively expensive, and i doubt anyone has ever done it (i certainly never have). so being "covered for a return" means nothing - instead, sellers will usually compensate w/ partial refunds or sending replacement parts/items, but it's easier not to deal with the hassle at all. you're also assuming that all sellers are honest, which they're not - it's much easier to just receive factory sealed boxes in the first place, so that it's more likely for the contents to be truly "brand new" and complete (for those of us that care).


finally, i've written "netclow" back as well myself, thanking him for his excellent customer service & to let him know that it is greatly appreciated, and that it's why he's one of many TF collector's preferred sellers.  

 

I still feel like making this almost charitable seller have to have multiple discussions with the manufacturer because of the tape on the package is a tad overboard. IF is the only Transformers merchandise not to have tape. Why are we outraged to find tape?

What will we complain about next? The bar is low.

 

If this tape crap spreads to other retailers like TFSource, I'll be pissed. I've always liked that IF boxes aren't taped. It looks so much cleaner. Cut tape always makes a box look really ugly too. Not having tape helps keep the box looking nice even after its been opened.

 

Netclow is has a special understanding with IF, but all this fuss we're making could have consequences.

I should get my package on Thursday, so that's exciting. As for this whole tape thing, I don't get what the fuss is about. My Warpath came in a styrofoam box covered in a thick layer of yellow tape, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Hoping to pick this bad boy up at TFN next weekend. It's the first time I'm really having to curb my spending so I'm looking for smaller figures to sate my lust...

 

Re: tape - We're referring to the yellow-ish tape used to "factory seal" the actual item, not the thick yellow tape used for the shipping box. See photo. I think the crux of the complaint was why does it have to be this yellow-ish tape, rather than just clear tape. Personally this doesn't bother me but I think the yellow tape looks unappealing; I just take it off.

 

Ah, my bad. In my case, my box didn't have any tape. No yellow tint, nor clear.

 

Did you order from netclow? He seems to be the only seller doing this or having a special arrangement with IF.

 

I don't recall, but I'm going to bet I didn't purchase from him.

 

Seeing all three together is awesome, now IF need to make the rest of the 84-85 carbots. I NEED THEM!!!

 

I am selling 2 extra of these which I got from netclow. They came taped (tape is clear this time).
