Picked up THF-03 from ToyDojo this week, he's fantastic aside from some battery issues with the fusion cannon.

I have the right size batteries placed in, but they don't lock into the socket and just sit loosely. When I close the flap and screw it down, the cannon only makes about a half second of noise before it goes completely dead. I unscrew the flap and rescrew it and it does the same thing, makes a blip of noise and then goes dead.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I have a dud? The instructions say something about wrapping the batteries in tape but I'm not sure if that's what they want you to do before placing them in the compartment or...?

    Any help would be appreciated.

So, i am still trying to decide between THF and Magten versions.

Is Magten worth the 20$ more?

So hard to decide, knowing that if i get the wrong one, i am stuck with it... forever.

BUT, i am thinking to display it with my FT Dino X (silver) and my FT Hydra once that comes out. But i think maybe either version will work on my shelf.

Thinking out loud, maybe if I get Magten would be at the center of the dibot team next to Grimlock, instead of next to Hydra. Hmm...

Either way, it will NEVER get transformed.

Take a small screw driver and slightly bend the battery tabs outwards... it'll ensure a snug fit and better battery connection. Wrapping tape is probably the worst thing you could do

    Didn't seem to work :/

I'm beginning to think I just have a defective piece. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, even adjusting the tabs just seems to make the connection worse.

I asked this question on the other thread so I'll try it here... anybody know what paint matches the face on IT Megatron? I scratched his mouth transforming him and would like to touch it up.

Anyone in the know hear anything about a factory panel lined chest and silver faces for Magten?

I thought I wanted them before. But after seeing @stprime's photo shoot, I NEED them on my Magten.

Either brick&mortar or online store that is worth their salt and sells modelling and wargaming supplies, miniatures and boardgames. They are bound to have Vallejo color lines.

Got my IT/Infinite Transformation Megatron this week.

For those who already have the official and are considering whether it's worth it to get this one too, here are my thoughts:

    • First impression was a tiny bit of disappointment: Many of the surfaces "look" more like bare plastic than the official (on which almost every surface looks painted). On closer inspection, many of those surfaces on the IT may in fact be painted: they've got a sheen or metallic fleck.
    • There were also some slight paint flaws on the IT—particularly imperfections on the extra faces, which sucks.
    • When comparing the IT and the official side by side, I'd say the color & finish of the official looks slightly better—but only slightly. Also worth noting that the diecast that IT added on the thighs makes it so that the finish on the legs is inconsistent: the diecast parts are shiny painted diecast, while the middle parts (that collapse into the thighs) look more matte. It stands out, but it's not *awful*.
    • The IT has some mold lines and sprue marks which bothered me at first. Then I compared it to the official and realized there are some prominent mold lines there as well. (On the forearms, and on the chest just above the chest plate.)
    • Added outward ratchets on the IT hips are nice. Most of the joints have less "wiggle" in them compared to the official. They feel pretty good.
    • Transformation is much smoother on the IT! (particularly the part where you swing the arm assembly up and plug them together to form the back of the gun.) And gun mode feels more solid, like it fits together more tightly with narrower gaps. And the added tab to hold the front half of the gun straighter makes a big difference.
    • I did not get the extra cannon with the Frank Welker clips. I hadn't realized that that was a "first run only" thing (my fault for being inattentive). So be informed if you didn't already know!
But here are the two most important observations, IMO
    • Some pin hinges & rivet swivels on the IT were loose. e.g., the swivel on which the gun barrel rotates, backpack hinges, and a couple of the joints in the foot assemblies. The feet were particularly annoying, since they started to detransform a bit when holding him aloft. (I was able to tighten those with super glue.) The ab crunch is slightly loose, and the assembly that allows the chest plate to move up and down is a bit looser than I would like as well.
    • I was really surprised when I went back and examined my official MP 36 to realize just how many chips and scratches it has in the paint. (Shin, both thighs, all over the crotch plate, parts of the chest plate, one shoulder, one forearm, and a bunch of random moving parts that have little marks on them.) Doesn't look horrible, but it does kind of suck.
Time will tell if the IT paint job really stands up to "infinite" transformations. But as of now, side by side, the IT probably looks slightly better.

    VERDICT:

If you already have the official, you only need this in your life if the paint chips are bothering you, or if you want to transform him regularly.

All in all, I would NOT call this a hands down superior product to the official. There are pros and cons of each.

I got the Welker cannon, but the sound is terrible, so you aren't missing out on much. I replaced the original MP36 on my Decepticon shelf with the IT. The feet on IT are annoying, but they are fine when he is standing, just floppy when being held.

Anyone need an official MP36 that has never been transformed?

Overall IT-01 IS better than the official MP-36 hands down.

Oh, definitely. I get what he's saying though- if you already have MP-36, I don't think one needs to "upgrade" it to IT-01. But if you don't, and want that particular style of Megatron, the IT-01 is a WAY better deal. Its funny, because even though later runs don't have the extra cannon, its basically just the model-001 kit. So buying that separately as well is still a cheaper total than the official.

As I've said before, I'm not normally a KO guy, but the official Megatron is ridiculously overpriced. I'm willing to fork over $140 for Sunstreaker and Inferno, but no way is MP36 worth $100 more than those. I mean, for what you get, he's comparable to MP Soundwave and Shockwave, which were retailing for $160 when they came out, there's nothing I can see that makes MP-36 worth 50% more than those. He costs more than figures like Power Baser or Carnifex, how does that make sense? And don't even get me started on how much they're charging for the + versions of Megatron and Shockwave.

Sorry for the rant, I definitely support the official line, but $200+ for their MP stuff is way too much.

I agree about the pricing. The officials are grossly overpriced for what is being offered. Since I don't hate my money I'm hoping IT KOs MP36+.

Well, it does seem like the KO Megatrons are of surprisingly good quality compared to other KOs. I ended picking up an IT due to a confluence of factors- reviews saying it matched or even exceeded the quality of the official, my interest in the mold being renewed because of the light up head that came out, and being able to get it quickly from an NA Retailer (and a first run, to boot!). Like if the reviews had been all, "Well, you get what you pay for" and they were of crappy quality, that cheaper price wouldn't be enough for me to buy it. But the KO Megs are just way too good of a deal to pass up if you want that mold.

Like I said, $140 is a bit much for Sunstreaker and Inferno, but you can tell Hastak spends a lot of love and effort on those releases with all the little touches and references they include. So I'll give that to them there. I mean, MP36 has a lot of accessories touching upon several moments from the cartoon and movie, but so did Soundwave. Megatron does have pretty good articulation as well, but all that together, I woulda put the price point at $180, maybe even $199. But $230? I get he's "MP", which means he's of a higher quality. But that's more than Predaking (even after including the price of the upcoming aftermarket kits)! Than freaking TRYPTICON! Heh, how does that make sense?!

So for me, its totally that MP-36 and MP-29+ (why the eff are they charging $40 just for a color change?!) are particularly overpriced. Heh, if MP Hound ends up being more than $150, I shall be very put out.

Bolded for reference. Actually you can tell that they dont spend any love or pride on their work at all. At least from a certain timeframe and forward. Their concepts are great but are just that: Great concepts marred by poor execution, that is been highlighted in the details of each figure. They could have reached perfection, but they decided to cut loose ends and make concessions that caused major problems to their figures. That is not love. Thats called a cash grab.

Right but for the past 2 years we've being experienced KOs that surpass the officials not only in pricing but quality also. It almost makes the officials seem like the true KOs, at least in terms of quality.
