Honestly I'm glad to have the $250 to spend elsewhere.

I did, if you bend the knee to it's full potential and you'll get the ratchet exposed just enough to get some lube in there. I also loosened the screw on the side of the knees. The right knee needed more attention than the left.

Just be happy there haven't been a thousand questions as to whether the gold parts suffer from GPS.

I hope they save that for MP Transmetal Megs for accuracy to the toy.

THAT'S THE THING! IT'S NOT! Why is it so hard for people to understand that?

Guys, I've read all this ratchet debate, and I think, like always, that the truth lies in the middle:

-To who's saying that the figure si ruined, is a piece of crap or are gonna ship it back or cancel their order: as mentioned many times in this thread, that joint is not that important. The figure will still be pretty much functional in every aspect. If TT would have not put that specific ratchet in the figure and so that piece of the shoulder wouldn't have been able to move at all, nobody would have complained about that, because it's not a needed point of articulation in neither mode. You're noticing it just because it's there. The figure is still awesome. So, don't devaluate the figure as a whole for something that doesn't effectively impact it in a meaningful manner.

-To who's saying that we must accept that and simply try to fix it ourselves and stop talking about it: we just gave TT 250 bucks. Expecting the company to deliver is something we, as a customer, have the right to do. It doesn't matter that the figure is still fine, the problem is that TT shouldn't have shipped a premium figure without the right amount of QC needed. So, even if the point I've made initally still stand, don't try to accept this kind of things by a multi-milionare company that ask you a premium price for a (beautiful) piece of plastic. This is just not right.

I like how you took a balanced argument and only agreed with the part that furthered your agenda.

And that's fine if that's what you've decided. Still think you're missing a pretty great piece especially if it's just on the assumption yours will break. Dinobot was pretty much non-negotiable for my collection though. And I still maintain that if the character is really important to you, the figure is worthwhile. But mine isn't broken, and I didn't pay 250 for it either.

I will also say, if I didn't buy something because someone said theirs broke I'd basically never buy anything, especially collectables.

Especially if it is caught before it "breaks" and lube is added, then it definitely becomes a non-issue.

I can definitely appreciate both sides here. I've been dying for a masterpiece dinobot figure for many, many years. There were three things that I wanted from such a figure. I wanted it to be as screen accurate as possible, able to transform, and pose-able. This figure, even if the shoulder ratchet were to break, delivers on that. The break does not affect what it is I am actually paying for in my heart.

That said, I do not spend the money lightly. It came to $300 Canadian for me, and that is a massive chunk of money for me. It meant really holding onto my money and turning down a bunch of other things I wanted. To have a product delivered that is not as advertised, that isn't functioning as the designers intended, is a little heartbreaking and concerning.

I actually find myself landing a bit more on the former side of things, where my desire for a transforming Dinobot that is as accurate and impressive as this figure will let me overlook an issue that doesn't affect my main usage of the figure. But I don't see why such a personal decision should come under such strong scrutiny of others, or why I should put others under scrutiny for feeling different. The figure is objectively a broken figure, and obviously there are people who don't want their figure broken.

In regards to lube, has anyone actually tried it with soap yet? Was it effective? I don't have any synthetic oil, but I do have dish soap. I'm wondering if anyone has had success with that before I end up soaping up my expensive figure.

    2 reasons:

    - Misinformation. We want to correct the misconceptions that people are having about the ratchet issue. Since many people are pressing the panic button, it may be hard for some to discern the facts.

    - Spreading the love. We love the figure and want others to experience it as well. As fans, we want to share with others what brings us joy.
