Phew! Fingers crossed both get our parcels soon!

And yeah I only said I might stop using AE if I find the prices are just not a big enough discount to risk the customs charges. For now I'll still with them ;)

Hey, that's great! If it's not too much trouble, can you show us how and where exactly you applied it? Thanks1

For someone who hasn't bought this yet, perhaps the best move would be to wait for a possibility of a "fixed" re-issue.

For some of us who already own it (or have it on the way), the only recourse is to find solutions to the problem or find ways to avoid it. "Hopefully TT will fix this" does not apply to us, unfortunately.

I just used a small paint brush to apply the synthetic grease to the areas in red (top and bottom) and then I gently moved the joint up and down to get the grease in between the teeth of the ratchets. Problem solved.

So annoying, a figure I've literally dreamt about for years is real and it has issues. If I knew for a fact Takara would do a reissue I'd drop my preorder.

It's an easily fixed issue with a toothpick and a bottle of dishsoap.

Even though I think we will probably get a reissue at some point, there is no guarantee that Takara will fix the problem.

    This.

Have no idea what synthetic grease is. Can you please explain/ post a link to the product you are talking about?

Synthetic grease is safe on plastics and is often used on gears on RC cars. Here is a link:

So far this is the 3rd time I've used it on a toy and so far no harm to paint.

Do you think the dishsoap method would work as well?

Yeah, the transmetals, fuzors, and transmetal 2s came out when Hasbro and Mainframe were working together on the character designs, and it shows in how good those figures were. I'd love some season 2/3 MPs, but not until after Terrorsaur, Blackarachnia, and Taratulas at least. The first two especially since they're at Dinobot levels of toy/character model divergence.

Hound will probably be the first (and maybe last for a while) chance at that. He should be closer to Datsun or Inferno in complexity, especially since his character model wasn't quite as far off from his toy compared to other season 1 characters.

Yeah, the ankles could stand to be a bit tighter. Especially since having the tail in storage mode makes him back heavy. On the bright side, after checking that picture of the arm ratchets, it looks like mine are fine.

And I figured out what my probably with tabbing in the ribcage on one side was - I had arranged the inner dino skin panel and arm the wrong way.

And since some are posting what they paid, I paid $239 US, from HLJ with EMS.

Possibly, I never used dish soap before to fix a ratchet joint. I use the synthetic grease because it doesn't evaporate in most temperatures toys will be in.

Couple more questions since I have never used the stuff:
1.) Does this congeal over time?
2.) Is this a permanent fix or does grease need to be applied regularly?

The way I did the tail was pull it enough that you can just start to rotate it right and left, and then gently keep rotating right and left while rocking up and down, and eventually it slid out.

In this day and age of youtube, I don't know why Takara doesn't release transformation videos to go along with their complex/ collectors figures. Seems like it would be easy enough and there may be nuances that the developers know that we wouldn't.

Bad news is as I said earlier my right shoulder joint broke and now does not ratchet. Good news is I transformed back to dino mode and it does not affect the movement or stability at all. That ratchet does not even function in Dino mode.

I can still pose the right arm using the upper bicep shoulder ratchet but cannot pull off more dynamic poses that would require lifting the inner shoulder joint (by his neck).

Sorely disappointed that those tiny pegs are all that keep it able to ratchet. Should have been a couple of mm longer and it probably would not have broke.
