You don't need a hammer to solve a rubix cube... just a YouTube tutorial... also you know Optimus Prime literally is a rubix cube now? I have a couple of the standard 3x3 cubes, one which I had to modify because instead of the normal colors it had foil stickers and the yellow and green sides are horrible for my color blindness. Plus Optimus Prime which is a 2x2 cube... kinda looks like a pop vinyle figure except the head pops off the body and then you can scramble the head.

Oddly enough the first Transformer forum I was on was a web site called the Padded Cell. Most of their members are women who love Starscream... it's kinda weird, I do not get why female fans seem to like him so much. He's a villain, you're not suppose to like him. I don't get it.

Also at the time I hadn't come up with Saber Prime yet. Armada Tidal Wave was out as a toy but hadn't really appeared in the show yet... I also spelled his name wrong so I was known as Title Wave... and had no clue I was naming myself after an idiot, I just really liked the toy. So yeah it was kinda awkward being the only guy there and since I hadn't discovered FireFox yet, no built in spell check which lead to horrible mistakes like Title Wave.

That is very interesting, she'll probably find that funny.

She likes his personality, the narcissism, over-reacting to Megatron's mild inconveniences, unnecessary scheming and his sass. But she also likes him due to being such a tragic character, since not only was he originally an air commander and scientist before, but his ambitions led him down a dark path of failure and now to her, the guy just needs a win. So she likes rooting for him.

She also really likes his IDW portrayal and relates to some of the things that he has to deal with emotionally and mentally.

I don't have the heart to tell her what happens in the 1986 film.

Speaking of IDW, a friend of my mother's, from her book club, still has my copy of Last Stand of the Wreckers hardcover. I had dinner with them a couple of months ago and while she handed off a stack of Murder Mysteries, her husband gave me that eyeroll. So I went back down to my shop , grabbed the book and put it in the stack and said it was for him to read. She looked at it with that sense of annoyed disbelief until she opened the cover and her expression went to absolute shock at the body horror.
" don't think of it as a book about robots that turn into cars and things." I told her.

I still need to get my dad to read the first volume of More Than Meets the Eye because of the chapter on Ratchet versus Pharma. He's a retired General Surgeon and he could appreciate the cynicism .

I know how this sounds but to me ALL female Transformer fans like Starscream. All of them, myself included. It's a running joke amongst fans since forever but is the most true stereotype I know. Haha.

As to why? That is somewhat answered belobut I was 5 when I watched G1 and he was always my favorite character. Like when Optimus died in the movie I didn't even blink but was heartbroken when I saw Galvatron blast Starscream. I specifically remember being sad when the 86 movie ended cause I figured I would never see him on screen again. I always liked villains like him. The 80's were a constant supply of them for me.

Tell her we should hang out, lol. But that's a lot of the reasons I enjoy him as well. She would get a kick out of the fact there is a female only Starscream convention in Japan. Or at least there used to be.

I don't like Stereotypes so I have to find at least one female fan who does not like Starscream there by breaking the stereotype that all female fans must like him.

That said... I wander if Starscream's popularity among women is the reason Slipstream came into existence... She's a female clone of Starscream, they're all said to be different aspects of his personality but we never did get a proper explanation for why one of his clones is female. Is she just the representation of Starscream's fan base or what?

Search your feelings, you know it's true. Ha.
While it is easy to disprove there are undoubtedly a large number of female TF fans who like ol' Screamer for one reason or another. I got attached to him at a young age and if I am honest it's really hard to put into words why. They inadvertently made a character that girls and women just adored. I dunno maybe it has something to do with the character archetype. I mean look at Marvel movie verse Loki, same thing.

When Animated was on air I remember Derrick J. Wyatt, who worked and wrote for the show, had a Formspring account. It was a site that let you anonymously ask people questions which they answered publicly. So of course when the debut episode with Slipstream aired he was absolutely bombarded with that question. Like it was all anyone thought to ask him, it went on for MONTHS. Finally anytime anyone gave a suggestion of what they thought she represented he just answered "Yes". It was both sad and funny. He eventually said that it was a joke that some took way too seriously. That is 100% true but many went with self loathing, which to be fair sounded like a awesome idea. ☺
