They were probably showing off his butterfly joints to someone. They do alot of fiddling with their figures to show ppl things at these events. ;)

i try to avoid the so vibrant-ish or saturated colours, yes, i know it's accurate to the animation, but the toy won't look like that irl.

That's why i find @Cheebs' digis so great.

Welp, time to upgrade my signature picture. :D

Awesome reveal! Prime looks a little long in the face but I'm sure it'll look a lot better once he's in color. I do recall many episodes where his head and face looked a bit more angular than the rounded features that MP-10 has. Other than that, both robot mode and truck mode are on point. Looks like he stepped out of the cartoon to me.

The alt mode is especially impressive and looks leaps and bounds better than MP-10's, especially with the wheels and the slimmer rear portion. Though the front windows aren't as slim as the real thing, the rest appears very good to me, particularly the grill and doors/side windows. The ladders actually look useful for a person to step on and climb up onto.

Looking good imo. I don\'t understand what\'s going on around the shoulder area though. I\'m most likely gonna get this figure though.

Boo. Nobody is digibashing those runner lights. They MUST be yellow/orange. TF:TM demands it.

Let this be the end of the “V3 Prime is taking the spot/resources/effort that could have been given to an unreleased character” complaints.

Prime is still an unpainted prototype Hound is a painted reveal.

Takara-Tomy is working on multiple figures, those we want will be released regardless of them redoing the big sellers.

This is a day to celebrate. MP G1 is still going strong!

Much as I love the Hasui-era MP's "perfect amalgamation" look, the definitive Prime, for me, has always been that sequence of him kicking ass in the movie, right up until he bites it. And this... this is that. This is Prime right out of the movie. So, for me, that bot mode is pretty perfect. I'm also very relieved that he's not sporting some huge, ugly mass of parts as a hiking backpack. There's a bit of a pack, sure, but it's pretty small, very clean, and even pretty closely matches the look of his back from the movie.

The alt mode is also amazing. To the point where I want to just call the transformation magic, because I've no idea how they managed to get a nearly spot-on alt mode (curse you, polygonal fuel tanks!) to transform into such a clean bot mode. Between that perfect looking cab and a hitch section that isn't crazy tall? The alt mode at least crushes my-- still much beloved-- MP-10.

As for the speaker and electronics, it's... fine? I personally would have preferred the speaker be a separate piece that could store on/in the trailer as well as on his back in robot mode. Kind of like the one the Generation 2 release of the classic Optimus figure had. That said, it looks like the speaker is still very small and has [shockingly] little impact on either mode. So I'm not going to throw a fit over it. It would be nice if it were still removeable, or perhaps replaceable by a plate/piece without the speaker cuts.

Overall this looks like the best figure of the post-Hasui stuff. At least to me. Better than Megatron, and certainly a far cry from Tracks, or even Ironhide and Ratchet's butt tires and hip plates.

Does this represent a total abandonment of the original masterpiece aesthetic? And a full commitment to toon over-literalness?

What is the original MP aesthetic?

    MP-1? MP-3? MP-8? MP-9?

They all had completely different aesthetics. There is no such thing as "original masterpiece aesthetic".

BTW, MP-9 was the first one to embrace the toon look.

What I like is the head and the hands, other than that I think he looks awkward. Going to wait to see this in color, but the shoulders look weird to me and they seem too small. Honestly I\'m not sure what it is but the arms just don\'t do it form me.

I love how every decision anyone doesn’t like is “kobayashi’s fault” when we know for a fact there are like 5 different MP designers at this point.

I'd like to call the G1 molds starting from MP-36 V3 aesthetics. Not only is this defined by the ultimate 'toon recreation, but also multiple interchangeable faces and abundance of accessories (and premium prices..), and a new set of articulation standard I'm seeing on this Prime and Hound as well, which means butterfly shoulders, ab crunch and lateral wrists on every figure. It's truly a good time to be an MP collector.
