    Happy (belated) birthday @Brum Bot ! :)

This here is (of course) lovely while simultaneously being (of course) not G1 enough.
We're all going to buy one anyway (of course) though so hurrah! :D

    FCAhaie.jpg

(Last TF I ever bought back there in the Backwhen, pocket money took saving but Woolworth's still had him.)

This is (of course) the NITE WOTCH(tm)!

"Time is running out, and the illusion fades away.
Time is running out; another day is on its way."

"The soldiers close in under a yellow moon
    All shadows and deliverance
    Under a black flag."

In the heat of the day

    When I look your way"

    "Two o'clock in the morning
    Ninety-four degrees..."

A few years and some months back, I was standing in the freezing (and I do mean FREEZING) cold of a new winter's night in Hanover, NH, and looking through a telescope the Department of Physics and Astronomy set up for members of the public to come and look through. Staffed by a lovely chap (seems new guy/gal gets to stay out to show folks the telescope!) who was also trying not to die of hypothermia and had been there for much, much longer...

    Not this building...

    Screenshot 2018-07-28 03.00.11.png

...but the shack behind it (actually MUCH cooler....and much colder)...

    telescope_buildings_meacham.jpg

...here seen by day (the roof folds down like the Ark about to unleash the Transformer who turned into the TV that drone scanned at the beginning of all of this, who very sensibly ran away and has been under a table at Maccadam's ever since)...

    Screenshot 2018-07-28 03.04.29.png

...and in the bitter chill air on the Far Side of this turning world, the poor frostsmitten grad student trained the (squat, thick, really quite powerful) instrument on Jupiter.

And when it was my turn I looked into the eyepiece, and I saw Jupiter and three of its many moons in a perfect diagonal (bottom left to top right in the view).

All brightly glowing in the sun.

I would attach a pic, but I couldn't find any that do justice to how it looked or how it felt, then.

You could see Jupiter's cloud patterns, and the Great Red Spot! And three shining moons (probably Ganymede, Io, Europa, but I'm not sure) all in a tilted row.

And this wonderful, gigantic, infinitesimal thing had been out in our backyard the entire time.

And that was a tiny (though vast beyond any easy comprehension) section of our own tiny immediate neighbourhood....

Well. After that I could see Jupiter (easy once you know where to look, as I'm sure many of you know very well already) all the time in the clear night air.

And then I came back to the Smoke and now I don't know where it is.

And I possibly posted about this already (for lo! I have been drinking, and shall not yet be sober, i'faith) but (alas) what can you do, in a world with no proper CHUG Pipes in it?

(The answer is (of course): if you get the chance to look at Jupiter through a telescope, say yes! :) )

    Happy belated @Brum Bot

Bit cooler today than goodness, and the humidity also seems down, might try some airbrushing later to get Leozack finished

This Doctor seems only too happy to help

    Morning all.

The state of this parking, it’s blocking the entrance to my car park/loading bay.

I'd write on his windscreen in permanent marker saying he's blocking an entry :lol

Some much needed rain very early this morning. It didn't last long but it's nice and breezy now which is much better for my ferrets and also for me as it's been too stifling in the past week or so.

No robots imminent at the moment but I should have my Hot Toys Yondu and another crystal TARDIS (2nd Doctor version this time) in the next week or so which I'm very excited about.

I'm going to see Iron Maiden in Manchester a week on Monday and my niece will be coming down from Edinburgh to meet me as she'll be up there to do a couple of gigs at the Festival. What I've seen from the "Legacy of the Beast" tour so far looks pretty epic and it'll be nice to spend some time with Katie as well.
