I agree with the above^^. Plus they had shorter tails than the mosasaurs

 

man yall are getting pretty hung up on species lol. anywho i got my first coat of paint on the head last night. was hoping to get the second done this morning so i could clear coat tonight but ran out of time before work *sadface* so i'll have to do it tonight. looks pretty sweet though. when i painted the top section silver i was like "man this looks so damn awesome" would have made a sweet reuse of mold for hasbro to make a silver skullcruncher.

hopefully i have time to begin making the fins tonight.

 

threw my second coat on the head last night. just got to look it over and throw on some clear coat. I think it looks pretty good.



a little sneak peak at some other customs i've been working on as well. decided to paint them up since i had the gold and silver out.

Do I see a parts of swoop colored ptero transector, and maybe a dinobot colored shuffler?

 

actually u see all 5 dinobots made from ptero and shuffler modded one way or another to be dinobots. who doesnt want mini dinobots?

 

Me and my friends have been talking about making all 5 dinobots into transectors but couldn't figure out how to do the stego, how are you going about it, adding plates to shuffler?

 

since i made a dinobot elephant from snarl i cut off the scales and had left over scales that i used. it was actually in that pic

 

Ah, I see. Are you making transectors for the custom dinobots you make as well, or just the original 5?

What are you doing about dino heads? I just picked up 3 shufflers at 5 below and already have a spare snarl that's getting the mammoth treatment. Trying to make 3 dinobot combiners, 1 air, 1 land, 1 sea, and then an ice age combiner, provided I can make sinnertwin a sabre toothed tiger.

 

well i dont want to give away all the surprise before i finish them. you will just have to stay tuned and find out when i finish them up and post them. should be very soon.

put my last coat of clear on the head this morning so i should be able to pop the head on tonight and post a pic of the head on the body. also applied a 2nd coat to the silver i originally put on. hopefully this weekend i can really dig deep and get this guy done.

well its been a while, been dealing with some highs and lows. Had to put my dog down which was devastating and ended up getting a puppy which is tiring. been trying to find time to wrap this guy up and wanted to give an update of progress.


I think im happy with dino mode.

got the skull cruncher head on and made some back fins. I wanted to do something with clear to mimick what the others had and i had some clear plastic silverware and knew i wanted to try to use it.

the fins are actually 2 handles for kirkland brand plastic knives painted on one side and glued back to back with the paint on the inside.


now on to robot mode....i didnt want this to be a straight up grimlock repaint and i thought "hey switch robot mode and combined mode". It's not great but i dont think its all that bad with the added color. I need to change the head which i'm not quite sure where i want to go with it. I thought about taking this head and modify it, i also thought about changing it completely. kinda depends if i can get it off.

and the head is like whoa off the back. i really want to fix that so i've gotta figure out what i want to do. thought about cutting the bottom jaw but i really like that it adds something to blend it better. might slot the hole in the neck so i can move the ball joint downward.

and combined mode is going to be like this. Not sure if i wanna make the chest piece i originally intended. and of course i gotta change the head. the big challenge here it making sure if can fit in Grimlocks neck. Painted the crotch piece gold to give it a difference and added some other highlights.



So i still have some work to do and I am still trying to push along to get it done. I've actually decided i want a full sea dino team cuz i'll have 3 with this one.

And finally got a hungrr for retail so strafe is going to be greenlighted after this. Cant have enough dinos!

It's looking awesome so far! If it were me, I would definitely repaint maybe dark gray, faded blue, and silver, with a few small bits of pale green. Just my opinion. I can't wait to see the finished product.

ty. I didnt want to add too much color. i want it to fit the dinobot color palette and i think adding a bunch of colors like that will make it too different. Gotta stick with the red, silver, gold, grey, black and maybe a touch of blue here and there.

Doing my little switch-a-roo for the robot and combined mode wasnt going good so i decided to go another route.


Here is what i got for robot mode. Took Grimlocks head and modified it a bit. I'm making a custom combiner weapon too.

a close up of the head. I added some spikes on top and cut off the sides of the head and painted the middle of the visor to look more like separate eyes.


Now i just gotta mod the combiner head.

 

You know what would be really cool. The combiner head being a small Dino that transforms from dino to Combiner head
