I love how every time a new release in this line is revealed, someone always has to come in complaining that it doesn't transform and that the product is a statue.

A statue doesn't have moving joints that let you change the pose. If that's somehow classified as a statue, then all action figures and transforming toys are statues.

Just because it doesn't transform doesn't mean it's not a Transformer. Transformer is a brand with characters in it. Optimus Prime. Megatron. Soundwave. Like the others, this Soundwave is a Transformer that just doesn't transform, prioritizing scale and movement over anything else. It's still an officially-licensed Transformer.

And I'm aware that this is really gonna mean nothing in the end and by the next MAS reveal we'll be seeing the same "It's a statue. It doesn't transform" complaints. Just cause they don't transform doesn't make them inferior.

If its anything like the Megatron or Prime in regards to price, $200 aint to shabby, thats around the price of a mid-high end masterpiece figure, for double the size! i think that's a decent trade-off for not being able to transform. Being able to play casettes would be stellar though, i dont think it would be terribly hard to cannibalize a Walkman into his chest, but for the figures cost that would be too scary for me. I'm interested to see where they put LED features besides his eyes, if there are any!

You forgot the part where the guy saying things like it's a statue gets mad we don't praise them for their brilliant commentary and starts acting offended that we are correcting them.

Tell me when they do a ravage that can rival them and I’ll be impressed. Actually that got me thinking, could the mmc tapes fit in this?

With that rationale, if I chop up Michelangelo's David and give him ball joints, I suppose he becomes an action figure?

...Yes. Actually. It would. That would literally be turning a statue into an action figure. A giant action figure, but still an action figure.

After that last one, I can see why.

Their Ravage is quite good. I always wished they'd made it a little smaller, as I feel it's too big for MP scale.

Yes, one of the points I've been making is that all of MMC's cassettes will be compatible here. Finally a reason for making them too big!

This looks seriously amazing, but I still don't think it can top the official HasTak MP. Definitely impressed with the tapes though!

I love this line. I wish they would at least ramp up production to three figures a year

Well, hang on. The MMC MP cassettes fit nicely with the rest of the MP line, with the exception of Laserbeak and Buzzsaw which are just a bit too big. This is perfect - I can have MAS Soundwave with MMC Buzzsaw/Laserbeak in his chest, and then MAS Laserbeak on his shoulder, and then I can use MMC Frenzy and Rumble with my MP display.

I don't feel so crazy buying them all, after all.

Regarding the rest of the MAS line, they are probably going to aim for other near-Prime scale G1 figures, I'd wager. I suspect we'll see Ironhide and Ratchet, Bumblebee, and more carbots before long. The engineering is straightforward (because it doesn't transform) so all they have to nail is the sculpt, and so far, it has been really nice.

    Shame about the price...
